A BLM turret.
A BLM turret.
I'm actually liking the idea of Allagan teck being turret glamours.
I for one wouldn't mind the aertheromiter being changed with the rifle Ala The Bard's Quiver.
Wouldn't mind the Gauss Barrel having some variation for rifle types too so we can fix its problems without compleatly redesigning it.

The glamour system for egi as it is is just silly.
They should put more effort into new turrets and egis rather than just new skins for them. It feels cheap and lazy and not at all what the players have been asking for.

I want to be able to glamour my Eos or Selene as Airy from Bravely Default. T^T

It may not be -new- summons as some of the community has requested - but let's be honest, this is much better. Yoshi doesn't lightly say 'No specs' because he can't be bothered adding them. It's because he understand that the rotation will be found and people will be expected to stick with it or be shunned. The exact same thing would happen with egis. Why create 6 egis when only 1-2 will actually be used? People should be thanking Yoshi for adding egi glamours as it's something people never knew they actually wanted.
I'd still rather see all the Egis used as part of Summoners basic rotation, culminating in Dreadwyrm Trance. You know, that way it's actually summoning for its DPS, rather than DoT/Ruin upkeep. There would be no "best" Egi if all of them were part of your rotation, could even throw the elemental wheel into play (not Ifrit does more against ice enemies, but in the rotation of Egis you use, you cycle through them in your rotation following the elemental wheel). It may not be -new- summons as some of the community has requested - but let's be honest, this is much better. As for Machinist... Shouldn't be too hard... The big road block on Summoner getting this is the animations (if I can glamour Ifrit over Garuda, Ifrit needs mage animations, plus tank animation, and that applies to ALL the Egi), but Machinist doesn't really have that problem, the animations are very basic in comparison... That said, some of the suggestions I'm seeing make no sense to me... Magitek Bit? Absolutely. Malboro seedling? lolwut? Some Allagan stuff would be great, especially when stacked up with Coil gear. Most of Machinists pet animations aren't really applied to the pet IIRC, Hypercharge is it I think, the attack/Promotion animations are effects around the pet IIRC. That can easily apply to anything.
Scholar pet-glamours should be fairly easy. The fairies are just pallet swaps, similar to Carbuncles. I think a complete system would allow Scholar to summon Carbuncle though, so Carbuncle would need the healer/support animations.
The system for setting pet-glamours should be easy enough, just have an offhand item that determines what you summon; Carbuncle Ruby (just the one, but make it so we can dye it for different varieties of Carbuncle), Eos Stone, Selene Stone, Inferno Gem, etc. Equip a Carbuncle Ruby, you summon Carbuncle. Summon I/II/III just determines the move set the pet has. For Scholar, you could equip the Eos stone, and you have Eos for both Summon I and Summon II, for example. As I said though, the difficulty is the animations... It's a lot of extra work for a vanity upgrade to a few Jobs... Although, if they were smart about this, giving all the pets a complete set of animations could "benefit" everyone. Beast Master is a Job that wouldn't suffer from this problem. Why? Because it uses mobs as pets, which already have a host of animations for when we fight them. Why not just do that for Fairies/Carbuncles/Egi? Throw some of them out as enemies for people to fight. Not overworld enemies, of course, but we could have various instances where we face up against them. Perhaps a special instance against some beast tribes who pop their Egi? Bam, suddenly working on those animations gets us a bit more than just Summoner vanity.
For Machinist I think it would be fairly easy to just have an offhand item, which determines your lunchbox and pet type; Ishgardian (current), Allagan, Garlean, etc. The only extra thing they need to do (same for Arcanist) is make having these off hand items equipped a requirement for certain skills. Just like you need a shield equipped on Paladin to use Shield Bash, you'd need the off hand item equipped to summon your pet on Machinist/Arcanist.

Turret Glamour? Really? Omg this forum....
.

As I said, its cheap and easy. They could tweak the existing egi and create new ones. Non-magic ranged or support for instance. If they expanded the smn range of abilities via egi and made egi more situational and reduce cast timers to compensate it could turn out quite awesome.
For example, give us Levi to boost dot pot, then ruda's contagion to extend them. Iffy could dps but then we could summon shiva can prevent stacks from falling off and sometimes retain 1. Ramuh would be more beneficial for trance situations. It sounds OP but they could balance it out. Make smn more interesting than dot dot dot ruin ruin ruin dot dot dot. Make them have to incorporate their summons since as it stands so many smn completely ignore them and just dot dot dot
How awesome would... Levi, dot dot dot, ruda, contagion, iffy, ruin ruin boom boom, shiva, trance, ramuh, boom boom, iffy..... be instead
Something situational that required more than mindless button mashing
But nope, here is just more mindless glamour for you guys to farm cause...shinies.
