I sure do hope they release recipes for the gathering gear at some point.

Still don't have any of my gatherers with the job-specific gear since you have to spend weeks of valuable red scrips on them. It's a bit ridiculous you still can't make crafted versions of these yet, it also effects the materia market since gathering materia becomes useless for those who got the 180s...

    What gives, SE?

Not all of them are expensive. The boots and pants are like 7 tokens each, which is less than the 9 capped tokens per week. However, I do wish the gathering tokens weren't needed for both favors AND gear, because that's just frustrating.

Yeah, that's why I'm a bit miffed about it. Even just those 7 can equal out to getting enough mats for up to 12 astral silk (or whatever mat), maybe even more if RNG is kind.

I just don't see why they don't let you craft lower versions of this gear, it's kinda silly..

Either that, or alternative gathering gear added, or the red scrips being uncapped. Some or all of those things will happen soon I am sure. We are very near the end of the current progression cycle now... 3.2 is a raised item level patch so a large amount of additions and adjustments are about to happen.

Who cares? Get the main hand, put in a few (as in no pentamelds necessary, meld the guaranteed slots + 1 overmeld) materia in your chimaera gear and whoop you have the stats for legendary node HQ.

Since I did that, I honestly don't know what to do with my scripts now, as I clearly no longer need the specific gear. Oo

Clearly I care, or I wouldn't have made the thread. :P

I want the gear because it's going to be required at some point (as it always is) and it looks cool, but I can't justify giving up favors for those precious mats.
Just giving up 3 weeks of gathering scrips for that main hand is way too much...that's millions and millions of lost income, or even a full set of crafted 170s for a crafter of my choice. Heck, more than a full set if I do it right..

That right there indicates your choice.

You cannot justify giving up the favors, and all the income/gear they represent, for the gathering i180. Personally, as one who has never been rich, I started saving for the gathering i180 from the get go. Thursday will see my having all three gathering classes in full i180, and will see me finally start on Favors in order to craft the crafting and gathering i170 gear.

PErsonally, I believe in future-proofing, but you value the Gil more highly than I do. To each his own.

Point being, it shouldn't be a 'choice'. Doesn't have to do with gil (even if that is a nice perk), as you will be way better 'future proofed' if you gear your crafters first...8 crafters will obviously net you more reward than 3 gatherers, especially when you can just buy anything gatherers can get...why should I have to choose between gearing my gatherers or gearing my crafters? The crafters are obviously way more valuable.

We've always been able to craft gatherer gear, I just don't see justification as to why we can't craft it this time.

I'm honestly kinda shocked I'm getting so much backlash on this. :S You'd think people would want more than one option to gear.

This perfectly sums up my dilemma at the moment.

Pretty much, that's what I tried to get across in the first post. Maybe I worded it badly. >_>
