Wait... What PvP story? Omega was a plot point for Teledjis little coup. Frontlines is a friendly conflict over territory, which more importantly is keeping Omega "safe" (and you only learn this in the MSQ, PvP alone makes no mention of Omega). Seal Rock is likewise a friendly conflict over Allagan data. The place gets mentioned as a proving grounds for Omega, but that is it... Omega was far more involved in the MSQ than it was in PvP, I really doubt they're going to tie it into PvP... Didn't they mention it would come up again in Heavensward? Kinda surprised the Summoner questline didn't hint at it, you'd think it might sense a Dreadwyrm Trance and start waking up... Fully expect it to be a method to deal with Nidhogg, though...

The PvP story is that Grand Companies fail at negotiations and resort to play-fights to determine who controls resources. That's it, and that's not a story, that's an excuse. If you do the MSQ then you get the story; They're not just fighting over resources, they're fighting to keep the areas actively dangerous to prevent unwanted hands messing with powerful Allagan stuff. The MSQ adds all the story behind Omega, likewise the MSQ can go "Oh no, Omega got activated somehow!" or "Ishgard is requesting access to Omega to help them end their war!". PvP would go unaffected because Omega was never mentioned in PvP, even if it was (we can pretend the PvE enemies in Frontlines are Omega, even though they're more likely Dalamud related) doing PvP after the fact would be no different than doing Keeper of the Lake after the fact.

I seem to recall the dev team saying that the Bolder Downs ruin was unrelated to the binding Coil. They did how ever imply that it was important some how. So it could be the Anti-Tower considering it does have what looks like a Spire sticking out of the ground.

Not sure they successfully got anything. The Allag Security was no joke so even getting into the first coil would have been extremely difficult. It took the Warrior of Light and seven other Echo users just to get past the front door afterall.

Well, maybe the writing team needs to stop trying so damn hard to preclude that kind of development, because Regula van Hydrus (or even the Emperor himself) riding into battle on Twintania would be intense. It would totally up their threat-level knowing that they had succeeded with at least some of their efforts in the Coil, instead of always getting beaten back like the ineffectual Saturday morning cartoon villains we already know they aren't.

Rather than, "Roflmfao, Garleans don't get Allagan tech," it should be, "Oh, sh[eep], these guys know exactly what they're doing, and they aren't messing around!" They aren't Team Rocket, they're a technological powerhouse that's conquered most of the world, and yet we always seem to face them at their derpiest.

It's that the entire game mode is built surrounding the lore of the Carteneu Flats and Omega weapon, and that both of those things have pretty much been pushed aside with 3.0. Yet, despite this, the game mode itself is still shackled by the lore that is in no way relevant.

The Front Lines game mode had 2 contributing factors to it's existence. The 1st is a territory dispute over the Carteneu Flats. On paper, the dispute is between which GC gets control over the Flats, and there's some mention of wanting to settle refugees there since it's a big empty spot. The 2nd (and far less important in regards to actually playing PvP) is that Teledji Adeledji orchestrated the "friendly competition" (PvP Secure) as a means of trying to gain control over Omega, by using the "refugee crisis" as an excuse.

-Enter the Secure game mode: The entire game mode is designed around the concept of gaining and controlling territory in the Carteneu Flats. 3 GC's must Q up to play to fit the lore.

-Enter the Secure map: The map shows a giant Allagan ruin in the middle (kinda looks like a big tower) with Allagan defensive drones patrolling it to keep out trespassers.

Seize (the current FL game mode) has no lore. There is no quest to unlock it. There is no dialogue. You could Q for it from day 1 of it's release without anyone so much as mentioning the island, what the objective has to do with the original lore, why we care about Allagan tome data, where we even got the USB sticks to download data from AoL (Alllagan Online), or what that data even is. There's nothing, but the GC restrictions are still in place. You could argue that the territory dispute lore still applies, only ....

Before the Fall patch happens and

Teledji gets whacked by Raubahn. The PvP lore is literally buried with the death of the character who started the whole conflict in the first place.

In 3.0 Lolorito outright says that
he basically allowed the whole event at the banquet to play out to bury Taledji and his crazy plans with Omega (despite the fact that he claims he did not foresee Raubaun actually killing Taledji).

The territory dispute is left at the wayside. No one actually wins and it is not mentioned. Omega and the ruins that he is under, likewise, are left by the wayside since the only character who was interested in waking it up is no longer in the picture. What does this have to do with actual PvP, you ask? GC restrictions.

Q times for FL are awful. Everyone knows it. The leading cause of this is 1) SE refuses to raise the level cap of Secure/Slaughter to 60, and 2) the GC Q restrictions prevent Q's from going through. The PvP community have been begging, quite literally, for SE to address this issue and remove the GC restriction. SE's official response to those pleas is that they are hesitant to remove the GC restriction because of the lore (there was also a brief mention of the possibility of match fixing, but there's no restrictions on pre-made PvP parties now, so no one took this seriously).

This decision is completely baffling to the PvP community, because SE abandoned all mention of the lore when they came out with Seize and pretty much wrote the lore of the original Secure game mode out of the game when 3.0 came to a close. They also admitted this when the responded to the player complaints, but are still clinging to their outdated lore as an excuse for why there have been no changes. They only say "we're looking into it."

... What? Teledji had nothing to do with that, that was the Grand Companies. They were fighting over the area and Teledji went ahead and said "Wouldn't it be better if we just agreed to use this land for the refugees?", the friendly fighting between Grand Companies was actively getting in his way. He wanted that over and used the plight of refugees as a justification for it, all so he could make a power grab for Omega.

As far as lore goes, there isn't really a territorial dispute. They've set up a constant battlefield in order to keep prying hands away; Had they gotten to Azys Lla first, they'd likely have turned that into a PvP arena as well. The whole idea, from a lore standpoint, is that if the place is a battlefield, then third parties cannot easily take advantage of the wealth of Allagan treasures in the area. Teledji could not grab Omega because the are was constantly in conflict. The Garleans cannot waltz into Seal Rock because the area is constantly in conflict.

As for the gameplay aspect of Grand Companies in PvP... I've weighed in on that topic countless times in the General/PvP section and have no intention of getting off topic with it here. I like the idea of it, but the implementation leaves something to be desired... Grand Companies in general need some fairly substantial improvements TBH. Here's some shameless self promotion... I was responding more to myahele really... Yeah PvP queues are dumb, but Omega really isn't tied to PvP at all.

I feel like pointing out that Teledgi might not be the only one interested in Omega and the ruins. Ishgard (In face I think it was mentioned in the Coil arc that the Holy See would had loved to get their hands on the Neurolinks, And Omega was apparently created to confront Bahamut), specifically the True Brothers of the Faith, The Garleans who have a fetish for Allagan stuff (and I would not put it past them to have a few people wanting to enslave Erozeans with the same tech used to enslave Dragons) and the Ascians might also know of the ruins

I think it is possible that any of those 3 factions have known about Omega, not likely but possible (But the empire would at least start to be suspicious about the act). That or the Grand Companies are paranoid about 3rd parties such as the empire having an interest in Omega.

Come to think of it, we never did learn how the Triad was felled by the Allagans in the first place, do we?

Amusingly, according to the artbook, the Triad apparently wasn't originally designed to be on the ARF tower. Large statues were there instead that were removed with the addition of the Triad.

So, either their addition to the plot was something that occurred later in the development process, after Asyz Lla was designed, or they were intended to be housed somewhere else. But where?

I really don't think we're going to be getting answers any time soon, not even in 3.2, but it's fun to speculate.

I see, then that means that Omega is a possible factor in how the Triad was sealed. If the Weapon was supposed to go toe-to-toe with the Dreadwyrm and win, then that means it needed some test subjects of similar calibur. Odin is a likely candidate but him wandering around the Twelveswood seems to have ruled him out, that leaves the Triad as the other possible test subjects
