Yet, despite this, the game mode itself is still shackled by the lore that is in no way relevant.
The Front Lines game mode had 2 contributing factors to it's existence. The 1st is a territory dispute over the Carteneu Flats. On paper, the dispute is between which GC gets control over the Flats, and there's some mention of wanting to settle refugees there since it's a big empty spot. The 2nd (and far less important in regards to actually playing PvP) is that Teledji Adeledji orchestrated the "friendly competition" (PvP Secure) as a means of trying to gain control over Omega, by using the "refugee crisis" as an excuse.
-Enter the Secure game mode: The entire game mode is designed around the concept of gaining and controlling territory in the Carteneu Flats. 3 GC's must Q up to play to fit the lore.
-Enter the Secure map: The map shows a giant Allagan ruin in the middle (kinda looks like a big tower) with Allagan defensive drones patrolling it to keep out trespassers.
Seize (the current FL game mode) has no lore. There is no quest to unlock it. There is no dialogue. You could Q for it from day 1 of it's release without anyone so much as mentioning the island, what the objective has to do with the original lore, why we care about Allagan tome data, where we even got the USB sticks to download data from AoL (Alllagan Online), or what that data even is. There's nothing, but the GC restrictions are still in place. You could argue that the territory dispute lore still applies, only ....
Before the Fall patch happens and
Teledji gets whacked by Raubahn. The PvP lore is literally buried with the death of the character who started the whole conflict in the first place.
In 3.0 Lolorito outright says that
he basically allowed the whole event at the banquet to play out to bury Taledji and his crazy plans with Omega (despite the fact that he claims he did not foresee Raubaun actually killing Taledji).
The territory dispute is left at the wayside. No one actually wins and it is not mentioned. Omega and the ruins that he is under, likewise, are left by the wayside since the only character who was interested in waking it up is no longer in the picture. What does this have to do with actual PvP, you ask? GC restrictions.
Q times for FL are awful. Everyone knows it. The leading cause of this is 1) SE refuses to raise the level cap of Secure/Slaughter to 60, and 2) the GC Q restrictions prevent Q's from going through. The PvP community have been begging, quite literally, for SE to address this issue and remove the GC restriction. SE's official response to those pleas is that they are hesitant to remove the GC restriction because of the lore (there was also a brief mention of the possibility of match fixing, but there's no restrictions on pre-made PvP parties now, so no one took this seriously).
This decision is completely baffling to the PvP community, because SE abandoned all mention of the lore when they came out with Seize and pretty much wrote the lore of the original Secure game mode out of the game when 3.0 came to a close. They also admitted this when the responded to the player complaints, but are still clinging to their outdated lore as an excuse for why there have been no changes. They only say "we're looking into it."
