I think the next set of armor should be steel pasties and a thong, or a chainmail bikini. How about body paint? Yeah. Protective body paint.

What do you mean about the first pic? All those armors are ingame already...the Hume is in bone scalemail, plate belt and moccasins, the Miq in calligae, skirt and chainmail, elezen in thighboots, subligar, jacket and vambraces and the lalafat in jackboots and biaud. ^^:Why not something like this?

I would say they would be great in FF XIV[/url]
Also, +1 for protective body paint! Vieras use this all the time...why can't the miqs use too? =P

Cause that's what we asked for right? I'm a woman and I'd like to be in clothes that are unflattering. I shouldn't have to play a DD just to wear something a little revealing at best. I'd just like some flattering clothes on my mage. As a 21 year old woman, if I wore anything that covered up in real life I'd just be denying my youth and body. I mean sure I rock a band tee or something, but NEVER EVER DO MY CLOTHES MAKE ME LOOK LIKE I HAVE NO BOOBS. Sorry as a female thats offensive to me, they should of thought "hey not everyone who plays this game as a mage is ashamed of their body", its not even showing off skin, you can be totally covered up and it can be sexy, at this point I just want INTERESTING not sexy, and SE won't even do that to mages. Think other mages in other FF rpgs, (not xi it had years to develop), Yuna wore a kimono get up, and Lulu who was well endowed wore fur of some sort. I wouldn't say these outfits were too revealing but lulu is of course more so. I would like outfits just a little more interesting, and I think sexy comes out of peoples mouths because we confuse this with wanting more interesting gear.

Oh dear god.
Ok, do this for me:
Go to a beach on a hot day and call all the women in their bikini's and swimsuits sluts and see what reaction you get. Make sure to record it and put it up on youtube.

Words cannot describe...how much I agree with you right now.
I'm fine with the current gear... though, more items that were a bit more special and purely for looks would be nice, for just lounging about in cities and such. Eh, actually, mages do need better outfits... the robes aren't very nice to look at, and I'm stuck with either them or half-robes for eternity, it seems like.
I completely disagree. I am also a girl gamer and I can't begin to describe how annoyed I get by seeing female characters downgraded to nothing more than eye candy for men to gawk at. I understand we all want attractive characters, but in a fantasy war game, logical armor that serves the purpose of protecting your character takes priority over, "Tee hee! Don't I look cute! ^^"Cause that's what we asked for right? I'm a woman and I'd like to be in clothes that are unflattering. The way SE designed their female characters is exactly why I play a male character. Have you seen a female marauder wield an axe? It's like she can barely lift it and has to drop it down on enemies rather than swing it like she's got any strength. What's offensive isn't having to play a DD to wear something revealing, it's having to play a male character so that you don't feel like a stereotypical weak female.
We don't need "sexier" clothes. We have coatees, bliauds and swimsuits. None of the gear we have hides the fact that female characters have breasts. If any of you seem to be experiencing this problem, then you're most likely playing a lalafell.

There's no problem, however, for this game to have both function and style. The point is robes are incredibly unfaltering and so far that's all there really is. I don't want my chest hanging out and I hate the coatee sets, but I would like an outfit that is a bit more interesting with a little more class.
Refia from FF3 on the DS had a really neat starting outfit that was flattering and interesting to look at. She wasn't drowning unnecessarily in baggy cloth. Even arc, though a male, had an interesting outfit.
It's all a matter of opinion though, isn't it? But this is a final fantasy game and part of that is having a wide variety of interesting looks. not just recolours of the same unflattering dressing gown for mages. Yes it's still early on, but I'm still all for interest vs. sexy. Sexy to me is less (cleavage, skin, protruding genitalia) = more.
I would be incredibly disappointed if every female body piece resembled the Coatee in the future, with a slit cut out of the top for the chest to show. That does not equate sexiness in my book. ): Frankly it's a bit offensive.
ie the Bliauds.

Im sorry but do you have only one sexy piece of clothing in rl? I understand the need for armor when fighting but some actually nice to look at leather or cloth would be nice to have for when you are messing around in the citiesI completely disagree. Coatees are ugly.
No girl would be caught dead in that crap.
