I'm just dreaming here but maybe they could give us a castle for free company alliancesI think this is an interesting concept. Any ideas? I do like the idea of sharing buffs. But FCs want to be both individual and also in an alliance. So it doesn't make sense to drop FC buffs just for Alliance buffs? Maybe there could be stages to the FC alliance like there is with FCs. Ranks 1-8. And then you could unlock 1-2 buffs (granted if you had that FC buff up it would not overlap). Would be a nice feature?and it would take all the free companies to come up with the funds haha.

Despite the surprising negative feedback toward this, I do have to say I agree with this.
While most folks are satisfied with achieving 512 members of their free companies, there are other players who strive to achieve more, and are not satisfied until they have created something that will leave a lasting mark. Communities are born from things like this, and it cannot always be contained simply to a 512 player limitation. There's always going to be people with the same common ideals, and alliances can make this flourish and benefit new and old players alike.
Alliances are always a known element to most MMOs and it is honestly long overdue. With what Megha has suggested in her wishlist that she'd like to see with alliances, there is really nothing that could go wrong with this. People shouldn't fear a shortage of players in party finder, alliances would honestly thrive more in higher populated servers where it wouldn't hurt the party finder queues hardly at all.

You can always kick unactive members that have not been on for 6+ Months, not like they are coming back anytime soon. There are so many times where I see big FC recruits as much people as possible, but everytime you check them it's a few people online only. So 512 is plenty. I doubt any FC can achieved 512 FC Members that are all actives, and they need more. Even if they achieved that much, they have their own group for everything and you are just a number to them.Despite the surprising negative feedback toward this, I do have to say I agree with this.

What did I say that was misguided and contradicts solid fact? If your gonna claim I contradict facts, then please provide them rather then countering opinions with opinions.Several things you said are misguided and a one sided opinion and even contradict solid fact. Free Company alliances have many benefits for every type of player. Heck I've been to quite a few servers and seen the status of there party finders. FC alliances would open up a lot of opportunities for content progression since most content is only cleared through free companies on less populated servers. On more populated servers FC alliances could simply benefit 3 fcs sharing the same house. Since your from balmung i hope you can understand that housing is becoming an issue.
All I basically said is that alliances are linkshells without houses. And even with linkshells, what do you do? You ask the people in your linkshell to see if anyone will run your dungeon with you first, before posting in Party Finder.
I fail to see what was misguided there. It sounds like you just wanted to disagree with me for no reason.

Well you're also not in one of the most active FCs in the world, I'd imagine.
My point is, just because you doubt there is, doesn't mean there isn't. There are FCs out there that can benefit from an alliance system, whether they are full in capacity or not. FC alliances are not just some idea for FCs too large to accommodate more players. It's an ease of access, and if done right, can be very beneficial.
There's a limit to linkshells, but an alliance would not only save a linkshell slot, but would have no limit to it as well. Other MMOs can pull this off well, why deny it from FFXIV?

I'd prefer the devs fix their cumbersome alliance-building "feature"(if you can even call it that) in-game first. That and actually give it an interface like CT/Ark raids and PvP.
Trying to get more than 1 party in the Diadem is like untangling Christmas lights.
We have three FCs on excalibur of all the same people that we coordinate through a number of linkshells and people relaying messages. Please Be Careful, DragonGodKnightKings, and Third Party Tools are actually one collective group of people and are only split into three FCs by the 512 limit. Around patch times we're at near capacity in the first two and TPT is closing in on 400 members now. An alliance between FCs or raising the FC cap above 512 is something that will go a long ways to help large groups like ours.
So again to all the naysayers in the thread, I'm a part of a three FC group of people and we absolutely cannot all condense into one. We have a ton of players that are all very active. So active that our three FCs are the top three on excalibur.

Having an alliance chat alone would be amazing and would save a lot of hassle. Right now I have to use 4-5 different cross-FC linkshells to coordinate things.

Honestly, I never understood why FCs need to get this large. It's guilds like this that would make me feel like I am just a replacable number. How would you even get to know anyone new? I don't know anything on Excalibur, but in my experiences, it's guilds that look like that, that care more about their numbers then the quality of their FC members. Recruiting people via blind invites and stuff. (Not that I'm saying that guild does; however there're plenty out there that're like that). I would also have to assume that you probably have members who haven't logged in, in 360+ days or more and in my opinion, should be cleaned out to make space for more active members, (which is another common problem with large FCs).So again to all the naysayers in the thread, I'm a part of a three FC group of people and we absolutely cannot all condense into one. Speaking for myself, if I were in that FC chain, I wouldn't even accept the invite to an alliance linkshell for fear of the chat running non stop with so many people talking. It would feel like I left the TV on in another room as background noise; and it would quickly become an annoying distraction to me. Just my opinion anyway.
