Hardcore, easy mode and the XI veteran

FFXIV needs fun content. I don't think anymore wants total timesinks, not does anyone really want hardcore content. They want content which causes you to use your brain in unison with other people using their brains. Most mmo's don't offer content of this sort. You don't use your brain for XIV, if you partied early on, you learn your class early and you dedicate what you need to do to muscle memory. We want thought, and a little difficulty that causes us to scratch our heads and stroke our chins. People confuse this with hardcore.

Sephrick, I must say this is the most well written post I've read on this forum. I tip my hat. I've been dealing with these same kind of players from day 1 on these boards and I think you have really nailed it.

Nay. Twas not the hours spent slaughtering crabs or crawlers that made a player effective at endgame.

Was it little blue crab #3,476 that came with the revelation of how to best Vrtra? Did crawler #7,978 enlighten anyone on the best approach to Dynamis?

After reading numerous posts that decry something is "easy mode" I've come to realize that no one is really concerned with how difficult something is or isn't. They're concerned with their ability to stand on the top of the mountain and claim it as theirs.

This is true.. I saw this back when they changed MP costs and suddenly these people were saying curing was off easy mode.. No, it was always hard when you were actually playing the game and not spamming one spell like an idiot. So true that such people are not concerned with real difficulty or ability because it's there if you look hard enough - now we can recognize fools for the fools they are.

Normally I find posts like this TL;DR, but holy hell man I read every last word and savored it similar to reading new patch notes or new letters from the producer. It was written very masterfully and covered everything I have been attempting to explain on these forums for a very long time. I am glad someone gets it in the way I do and can find a way to put it in words in a very professional manor without adding too much opinion.

FFXIV community in a nutshell sadly. Not everyone is like that but that's pretty much the mentality when it comes towards their older brother MMO.

Theres a different betwwen stupid easy and ultra hard.
All I want is "normal" content and thats what we get so far.
