Suggestion for data center party finder

    Hi,

I had this thought the other night and wanted to share. I'm not exactly sure how the dev team is planning to implement, but considering a couple of the challenges I came up with this idea:

Problem: I assume the biggest problem with data center pf is there's no way to directly communicate between players on different servers. It doesn't seem possible with the current structure to allow 4 players on leviathan to join another 4 players on shiva and queue up for a duty, or to be able to communicate with each beforehand about experience or strategies.

Suggestion: An instanced area, maybe like a waiting room, where players can join and leave freely to talk with the host and work out details relating to their PF. We know that we can be matched up with different players on different servers through the duty finder easily. Basically it would use a system like this so that players on different servers can group up in this instanced "waiting room" and be able to chat and whatnot before undertaking the duty.

I guess the main inconvenience of this would be that if you are in the data center pf, then you'd have to wait it out there and it could be pretty boring lol. I don't know if a larger instanced area like perhaps a lobby where people from various datacenters could join up so it at least wouldn't be so lonely. But I'm not sure on all the technical limitations for something like that.

I don't know, just a thought I had that seems like it could work at some level. How much people would enjoy waiting for strangers in a dark room is another matter entirely :P

    Thanks for reading o/

Well if you put up a cross-data centre PF and someone from another server wants to ask you for some details, they could simply join the party and use party chat. That feels like the most seamless way of handling it. Rather than putting people into a waiting room.

The current duty finder does exactly this. When you queue normally you are placed with others within your data centre.

There doesn't need to be anything as convoluted as a waiting room instance they could make a cross realm chat channel or extend the current party finder.

Sure, that would be the most seamless way, if it's possible given the current structure. It may not be, which is where this suggestion comes in to play.
