One person's endeavors may crash one-or-two items briefly, but not the whole market for the long term. Thank you SE for not (yet) implementing such nerfs to the current crafting system.

Can't see them adding anything other than some universal DoH headgear in 2.2, considering how they added DoH gear in 2.x:

2.2: Artisans' Spectacles, Artisan's MH tools
2.3: Rose Gold Choker, Mosshorn Earrings, Dodore Belt, Supra tools
2.4: Artisan's Mitts, Culottes, Sandals, Artisan's OH tools
    2.5: Artisan's Apron, Lucis tools

If they follow a similar pattern with 3.x, the i170 HQ gear will be good for at least another 1-2 patches, with the chest being good for another 2-3.

When the river stops flowing (the market), I dont waste time complaining about the large rock (specialist system) in the way, I care about the dam thats holding back the river (scrips system). It's a dam. A dam holds back water and lets a certain amount through at a time to generate power, and no more then what is designated. Just like the red scrip system. Only 450 a week. And just like turning turbines, the exchange rate is very harsh.

If the specialist system had as much of an impact as everyone thinks it is, then sky pirates gear would be even more expensive then the green 2 star clothing is. Is it more expensive? No.
I'm not saying the specialist system solves any of these problems. It's not supposed to. The solution to this entire problem is uncap the red scrips, and lower the amount of favor materials required to make an exchange.
After your rant regarding your friend's problems on Page 7, I don't know whether you are being sarcastic or serious.

Specialist system, and the scrip system, are separate systems. The scrip system slows down your gearing, similar to the way the tomestone system and the 1-loot-per-week raid system both slow down gearing. The specialist system is supposed to help you if you don't have all the crafters leveled. The inclusion of specialist-only recipes, however, is a limitation, not an aid.

You do realize that you do not need any red scrip gear to make 2 star stuff, right? You do realize that it takes two red gather tokens to get the stuff for one red crafter token, thus limiting you to at best 8 red crafting scrip material sets? You have to go 4 miner and 5 botany, or 5 miner and 4 botany. And it's only 8 if you are lucky enough to get 20 favor mats from each set of 5 favors ... If you don't (like the 13 I got from one set of 5 recently GRRRR) then you will be getting even fewer sets of 2 star materials.

You do realize that items are ment to be sold roth, right? If someone has very little money, then their purchases must be small. Supply and demand dictate marketboard prices. If there were more supply, then the prices go down. They need to go lower to make it affordable for people that only have a couple million, to gear their crafters with a full blue set. And that only happens if theres enough supply to push it down. And the blockade of capping red crafters scrips is a gigantic wall to climb over. Remove the cap, and the supply will increase, and people in a position similar to my friend, or someone new, can afford to buy a set of blue crafter gear.

As for your second point about gatherer favor nodes, Im well aware of that. I can simply buy any favor node materials that I dont have enough of from another person. Ive already been doing that. Surprisingly, theres actually a lot of people on my server that are willing to sell me favor mats below market price. Why they dont just sell them on the marketboard is beyond me, but I can only speculate that its related to the fact you can only sell 40 items on the market at one time.

Simple example: 15 coke (or 3 ingots worth) takes 10 red ooid and 10 wyverns wart. I'll use my miner to gather the red ooid (need to get 90 every week for the 9 exchanges). I know of several people that will sell me wyverns wart at 70k each. Total cost is 700k in wart to obtain 3 ingots. I could sell the ingots at 250k and still make the money back. And prices will only fall as I put more up, accomplishing my goal of making the ingots cheaper for everyone, so that maybe someone that only has 3m only has to spend 1m on an offhand.

I dont understand why I need to walk you through the process

Can this thread please be about the topic of the thread (in case anyone forgot: Specializations) and not one man's crusade against all things Red Scrip?

Sure lets do that. I am just speaking my mind, and then other people jump in and start picking out things they want to fight about within my opinion, causing the conversation to steer in another direction.

I hope the next recipies are gated behind specialization, because the system does exactly what was intended. The skills are for someone that isnt an omnicrafter, to hq 1 and 2 star, and they work just fine, just not as powerful as an omnicrafter, which is the tradeoff you are choosing. However, this requires you to be even higher geared then normal. And that means either you spend 10 weeks gearing up using scrips, or buy the set for 20m. Now if only Square would uncap the scrips, I could farm all the crafting materials I want, and sell the people that want only 1 class some nice cheap gear at an affordable price closer to 500k each, instead of 5m each, because thats all they can afford. And then they can enjoy the specialization system like it was intended.

But none of you seem to understand that. Specialization is almost as powerful. Its not supposed to be equivalent in power. Its not supposed to increase your power. Its not to gear you up (thats scrips). It is a replacement system for a lot of skills, and as an added bonus, you even get some extra free recipies designed specifically for you because you chose to specialize.

You mean the "extra free" recipes that were specifically designed to force crafters into specializations, after SE noticed that a large amount of the crafters weren't even bothering with the specialist system in 3.0?
If these specialist recipes were actually intended to exist as something other than a reaction from the devs to force people into the specialist system, then they'd have added them with the introduction of the system in 3.0

Simply put, they messed up with the specialist system, and now they're trying to fix it with bandaids instead of admitting that the 3.1 specialist system just didn't work.

Sorry, that was a typo on my part, but you completely missed the point of my post anyway.

Yes, the specialist recipes were added in 3.1, which I pointed out was a reaction to the failure of the specialist system that was introduced in 3.0.
Unless you're thinking the specialist system is a 3.1 thing too, which just proves how forgettable it was at launch.

keyburz you're not adding anything to the discussion with the rants about red scrips. Save it for another thread.

The point is that they really need to reconsider specialist recipes because it just works as a restriction where one doesn't need to exist, just for the sake of having a point. The specialist system does not help new players in any way craft things without being omni-crafters, because the specialist skills suck. SE is trying to take the easy way out by providing some "reason" for specialists to exist.

What they NEED to do is actually go back and rework the system.
