Half of what you said I can agree with. Something I would like to see perspective from others is that despite there being casual content, does the challenge of said content have to be dropped so severely low? I speak to people under normal circumstances. Does so called "casual content" have to be dropped in such low difficulty that you rather just mindlessly grind all day instead of at least adding an interesting boss/content in between? Again, 2.0's relic quest was at least a great way to start off your relic quest. It did have grinding, but it also had interesting bosses to face on the way that were very accessible and not too hard to defeat. Not to mention it got your feet wet with primals. Was there so much criticism towards fun content like this that people much rather just have one mindless grind after another without challenging you as a player besides your patience? I really would like to hear perspective from those said players. They are obviously around because SE for some reason are listening to them.

I consider myself a midcore player. The reason i dont do raids is actually cause it takes forever to aquire the gear to begin raiding due to ilvl requirements. Eso stuff is timegated, void is weekly gated, everything else is below ilvl 200, which other raiders dont want.
For ppl who get there first job to 60, they have to aquire a full set of law gear including jewelry before they can even do alex norm. You cant get a single eso armor your first week. Forget voidark, the ilvl is even higher. Its ridiculous just getting to the point of being able to raid. Way to discourage would be raiders to the raiding community.

I'd take a challenge over a mind numbing grind every time. for one very simple reason.

- the feeling you get when you complete a long assed mindless grind is pretty much "finished at last" it's not really one of satisfaction or accomplishment.
- the feeling you get when you over come a challenge is more along the line of "oh yeah! i'm awesome" it's a lot more euphoric and satisfying.

This is not a hard thing to accomplish with daily roulette. At that point, you're just not raiding because you don't feel like it. You can easily get i170 in a matter of a few days, esp from a perspective of a new 60.

Actually no, im not raiding because i quit for a while came back, and have been waiting for my ilvl to be high enough to raid for the reasons i just stated. Of course its not a "hard" thing to accomplish, i said its time gated.

It's a time gate of 5 dungeon runs for a fresh 60 because of law bonuses, less so if they actually get dungeon drops. You're severely overestimating the amount of time commitment you need to get to i170.

indeed, when 3.0 first hit, i was full 179 in about 3 days after 60 - there was no time gate preventing this then and still isn't now.

Once you are 179 or near there, start doing alex NM for 190 gear - queue times should be quick with relic and a lot of people are not rolling on drops. After that you can get work towards moving to 210 with void ark, diadem, esoterics - but even at 190 you can start entering into the raiding scene. Void ark and Diadem were not even in game when savage was released (and not for many months).

Whos overestimating 170? Did you not read the part about no one wanting someone below i200 (as is the case on my server anyway)? I wasn't even talking about alex normal. All alex normal is at this point is another step towards obtaining actual raiding gear (eso or void ark), you could potentially use it to fill some slots like jewelry but it still lowers your ilvl. You can find groups that are just starting savage that could let you join below ilvl200 but that's rare. I've seen only 1 PF recruiting a ilvl190 or higher tank that was just starting savage. Suppose I could get a group for thordian but that's only one piece of the pie. I refuse to touch diadem at this time. I guess thats whats holding me back .

Prolly will at some point when I cave in and just go for it. I think part of it has to do with me just feeling expected to be at ilvl200 cause of all the PF's ive seen.
