Killing random mob don't need skill.
Kill boss like LK in HC mode = Need super skill.
( Next you will ask for strategy to kill random marmot and dodo)

i must admit, killing random monster and getting experience chains in ffxi, actually did require a bit of skill and knowhow. you could carry a couple people who were kind of foolish, but it would directly effect your exp gains. Not to say it was brain surgery either, but you definately needed some overall planning and execution. Of course after the first say 35 levels, you basically got that and could play while falling asleep most times.

Thats what i'm afraid off. It would be nice if leveling worked more like standard RPGs where you get rewarded more for taking down a hard enemy.

i agree. should be viable to fight hard things but developers are scared that people will succeed at fighting hard things and enjoy themselves.

In ffxi = you just need to kill mob fast
( and if you want you can have your puller to pull another mob before you kill your current target >>> sleep if early pull before you kill your target)
= simple plan that every one know and can use.

what you need to chain easily in ffxi not great strategy but rdm, brd, 5x war (75 days).
    (plus good weapon/armor)

and if you want that in ffixv than don't worry, they will add it in 1.19.

edit: what really lower your exp in ffxi is having job like drg and blm in your party.
and that why no one invite them.
( i don't like it but it's true and that why I solo my blm from level 30 till 75)

ehhh you really oversimplify, and war wasnt even that great in the early days. Bard btw takes a bit of training and skill to play well, and master rotations, learn which songs to use for different party set ups.

Effective use of bard also involves correct positioning.

The use of skill chains required coordination between melee (in the early days people still did skill chains)

the sleep pull strat could get you killed if improperly executed, you can simplify it, but it was pretty complex proccess compared to what many games offer.

later on it became a non stop kill fast spam attack style fighting, but even that was only viable for certain monsters/party formations.

now dont be mistaken, im not saying i want ffxi playstyle back, im just saying it wasnt super easy and required a bit knowledge/skill to do well.

Id prefer more of the in game strategy to go to each player, rather than the party as a whole has a strategy, but each player is just a robot. Id also want to make a game that scales better in small and large parties. But I think that they should reward both styles of play, fast kill, and big monster kills.

The dude said he wanted you to get a sense of accomplishment from defeating an enemy whether solo or party, but i havent seen that yet.

In XI there were times you need all six people in your party, and they knew what the god damn hell they needed to do. In XIV you don't need all 8 people, and you can make it way easier by inviting more archers as long as you have mages. Its like no one invites mrd because he will slow the party down, is the same logic as not inviting drg, the problem was then they added bird camps and what did you want? a brd, a rdm, and then everyone else with a polearm. Even though some people think thats an abomination if anything it showed the versatility of the party situations in XI , but if everyone gravitates to that party because its faster it does leave people out. To be fair a lot of "being left out in XI" was that people wouldn't make their own parties.

Anywho what I'm saying is I'd like to see all 8 people be needed in a party, but for that we'd need a beef up on mobs, but even then people will just bring more archers. Its kind of a vicious cycle :/

There are lots of alternative camps if you looked hard enough. Some are not hard at all to find and are right outside Ul'dah's City. Where is your sense of adventure!?
