You don't necessarily sound like a dick at all. If I were motivated I'd look up a list of all the voice actors both English and Japanese, and see how many of them, if any others, have passed away. I don't recall any vigils for the guy who made the grunting noise for the Hyur avatar voice #7.

People should really stop this "pretending that they care" nonsense. You didn't even know her real name. Some FC's using this murder case as an excuse to draw attention. Stop pretending that you care because you really DON'T. It's the same thing as using national flags as Facebook profiles pics to just gather some likes and attention while pretending that you care. Meanwhile thousands die from starvation and wars and nobody cares but I guess their religion or country's flag colors are not cool enough to use as a profile pic or organize vigils. Let the people who really knew her care about her murder and mourn her. A gathering of digital toons semi naked and a spam of threads won't offer relief to her friends/relatives. Let this theater of sensationalism aside and try offer real help for those in need if you want to show that you really care for something. I don't like how this matter was handled by a part of the community. At least IMDB helped some people to find out her real name.

I don't think you sound like a dick at all. It was one thing when people were holding a candlelight vigil for a player that had passed away, as that was someone that people knew, someone that was actually part of the community. But this is...

Yep, this is pretty much how I've been feeling about it. It's downright bizarre when you have people making such "deep" and "heartfelt" statements about someone that they wouldn't have recognized if they had passed them on the street before the news story broke. Condolences to the family, surely, but a lot of the eulogy-style posting and posturing just feels creepy.

It reminds me of the tons upon tons of "reblog for awareness" people that infest tumblr and facebook. -.-

I want to see justice served to the person who murdered her and her two young sons. That's why I care, and I think that's why others care. It's not so much that she died, but how she died.
