As a tank, why am I expected to heal?

Today I got kicked from a Fractal run because I wasn't throwing out pots at the BLM, I argued that the cooldown for pots makes it hard to effectively heal as a tank and keeping up with the WHM's DPS was making life harder.

That's not all, last week I got kicked from a Bismarck run because I didn't have Clemency on my DRK, I've never felt so ostracized since my WAR days when people only wanted PLD's. Now they've made PLD's the ultimate healer so I struggle to get parties on my DRK. I really don't want to re-roll.


Why is it like this? I signed up to play a tank, not a healer.

I see you're a MRD. Perhaps you weren't self sustaining properly. Warriors can sustain without a healer for a very long time. If they don't use these skills.. they are incredibly bleedy and terrible as hell to heal. Read your tool tips.

That was what i was thinking, tbh why would a pally be required to heal..sure clemency is great for those moments where the healer is overwhelmed and cant heal fast enough because the dps are idiots standing in all the aoes and not dodging, so clemency can save that dps while the healer keeps the tank alive.

Tank > Healer > Dps...

But afaik you cant pot people, only phoenix down and that us out of combat.

You can only use status curing items and Phoenix Down on party members. Healing potions are self use only.

That clearly can't happen because then the people who chose to play on a JP server can't go around claiming they are special snowflakes.

I think you got a bad group as I and everyone I talk to let their potions sit in the back of their inventory list. Your job is a tank, you keep people alive by keeping monsters off of them. That's all you should be worried about.

I was in EX roulette all day trying to get rid of my last 180 piece of equipment. Almost every run was worthy of a comment, but the AOE one just took the cake.
