I'd be a lot more interested in miqo'te men if one of the tribes had been designed to be big and beefy like Cray from Breath of Fire IV. I hope the developers make another pass at character customisation in the future and add a muscle slider and additional options in the future. It's a shame that hyur are the only race to have major physical differences between their two 'tribes', especially when the non-hyur races are supposed to be a lot more diverse in regards to their culture and appearance.

I'd just like to share this bit on concept art that's come up in previous threads on the topic of Miqo'te builds...

The middle one looks like a female, honestly. Especially that it looks very similar to the default Miqo'te female pose.
I'm all for the Miqo'te men being a bit more feminine/bishounen though, not that I don't like them currently.

Personally I'm all for there being androgynous options out there but I feel like there's more than enough of that at present. I want more classically handsome and ruggedly handsome facial options for the men of all of the playable races. Miqo'te aren't necessarily 'feminine' or 'androgynous' yet that is something pushed by a large portion of the miqo'te player-base - which is a real shame since it has succeeded at killing my interest in the race and I know I'm not alone in that regard.

The argument that it's a 'Final Fantasy game' doesn't hold much weight either. Every single main title with the appropriate level of graphics has given us a wide range of male characters with very varied looks.

Yes, but as the protagonists of FFXIV, why are we forced to be beefcastles or super scrawny females? Why do we have no options? Why can't we be slender gentleman or stockier women?

Male Elezen are pretty slender while also having an athletic body type. I don't know what you mean about "stockier" but we do have Highlanders and Roegadyn women, and Lalafell if you meant that by being chubby.

I'm not sure if other MMOs would let you pick another body type for a single race (unless they have only 1-3 races) or a body fat slider/muscle slider (that doesn't just give the body more definition but give more bulk) but having more body types for each race would be more work for the developers because of gear-fitting.
Some of the MMOs I've seen so far distribute a kind of body type for a race, but I might not be looking more further if there's an MMO with the kind of superior customization.

EDIT: I think I don't know any game that had customization like body fat slider and muscle build slider other than the Sims, so I guess why it's not in this game is either laziness or just too much work for them at this point.
I'm not really disagreeing if you're getting that vibe from my post, it's just that I can see why it's not in the game yet.

Look at more modern or up and coming MMOs I can name a few that have full customizations.
