    There's nothing stopping them implementing Chemist with skills that simulate the effects of potions and such without actually consuming any items. Everyone always seems to fixate on the item consumption aspect of that job without considering alternatives.

    That's the healer class I wanted back when we were speculating for Heavensward. Some long range non-magic attack capability, and quickly throwing out job potions to allies. And by job potions, I'm talking the equivalent of the Hidden potions they used in FFX-2. They were potions that were not used from the inventory, they were pulled outta nowhere.

    Trying to find an engineer to make mammoth cutters/shatter rounds or saronite/ice arrows, never again. And that inherently came with the problem of having less bag space since one of your 4 bag slots was dedicated to quivers/ammo pouch (which actually categorized what it could hold...). And every single shot, including abilties used up ammo.

    yeah, i played lock main so i know the pain 1 bag dedicated to soul shards....at least i didnt had to pay for it / needed crafting for high lvl souls

    I can actually see them making a chemist someday. Maybe make it somewhat similar to NIN's mudra system wherein you have to combine different things for ___ ability. Each "mudra" will be an item

    Cleric stance will make the the combos attack-based while when it's off they could be support-based

    We'll never have a system where you'll need to use items for jobs, but instead of that they could just be cooldowns.

    This way it'll be similar to the classic Chemist, but won't require in-game items since the current system don't allow for it.

    The Astro class is already the chemist that was "re-skinned to thematically fit in with the heavensward ishgard theme"
    they already said so

    just look at all the card skills and imagine them instead as mixing concoctions from randomly found materials

    If they did add the chemist ability with machinist I may just lvl my machinist just for that lol. I'd still prefer separate classes for more diversity, but I wouldn't mind this. Unless they do the same with dancer, then there's a problem -_-

    Alchemist should be a combat job on its own. Like the Atelier series where alchemists fight with bombs, potions, and homunculus (another pet job),

    If Chemist is implemented, obviously its heals (potions and such) will be abilities, not consumables from your inventory.

    You can easily add mixing in without the unnecessary inventory management, it would only deter people from the class and would be a bad move.

    Lets have them balance the current set of healers before we add any-more I say, that said, I would be all for Chemist, weapons could easily be hand bombs or a small flintlock or something.
