Game is getting boring fast.
Game is getting boring fast.
I'm debating what's making the game seem stale.
Is it that we went from being used to having a constant stream of content, to the sparce content of patches 2.5-3.1? The average amount of time between patches being increased might make the grind seem even worst - since there's limited options of grind available compared to original.
Or are some of the systems implemented in Heavensward just terrible?
The fact that your Crafters and Gatherers have this... aweful Red Scrip system, arbitrary limits on what you can craft via Specializations, layers upon layers of Lockouts for combat classes compared to normal (Seriously, whoever came up with the Alexander Normal loot system... I disagree strongly with you, good sir), overtuned content that makes it even more of a grind to complete than usual (There's a sort of curve to be met where people need to feel like they're 'able to progress' and if their tolerance for bashing their head against the content), the leveling being just... more of the same 50-60.
I do agree. FFXIV has always been a grind. But I dunno. I feel like the grind was better executed. IT could also just be burnout. Who knows?
Game has always been grindy, as any other game. It has to be. It's just that this game keeps recyling its old content to do it. While it helps old content and mechanics to keep being run for new players, it's annoying and tiring for older ones. Too repetitive, after a couple of years, grows old and people already got burnt out on it.
I agree with you. The high lv community of this game it's weird.
I agree with this completely. This game is a single player rpg, Destiny feels more like an mmo than this does. Everything is closed off and secluded!
There's also no competition unlike with other mmorpgs, there's nothing to really strive for either so the grinding isn't enjoyable since there's no rewards for it.
i grind is a grind only if itsnt FUN ,after a while anything u do every week is going to be boring no matter what, but at least mask it somehow......others game hide the grind with fun or spice it in some steps...but FFXIV 3.0 didnt even try to hide it....and thats SAD.

The problem is they followed so close to the "other guys" formula they are even repeating the same faults. 2.XX was the time to play it safe and get subs. 3.XX is playing it safe and losing subs. The devs need to become more creative and inventive.
My suggestion to dev team
STOP trying to focus on ways to force people to do the same content over again
START trying to focus on ways that make the content fun, so that people will want to do it over again

They don't even need to do that... I know people like to hate on XI here, but XI is certainly a good base to work from... Why reinvent the wheel when you've got a perfectly functioning one you can improve upon? Plenty of things in XI are perfectly valid pieces of content that are certainly transferable, I mean look at our Grand Companies, then compare them to Salaheem's Sentinels. One is a boring, characterless mini-grind with zero character, the other is at the very least a grind with characterful quests, I'd say it was pretty fun and memorable, since Assaults certainly beat the crap out of FATEs and those lame Company Levequests. Heck, forget Treasures of Aht Urghan, if Grand Companies could at least mirror vanilla Final Fantasy XIs nation missions, that would be a stark improvement over "Oh, you need a new rank? OK then, done". I'd take proper Grand Company quests, which flesh out the nations, over Hildibrand quests any day of the week... Throw meaningful content like Assault/Campaign/etc. into the mix and all the more so. Why Hamlet Defense got axed in the move from 1.0 to 2.0, I'll absolutely never understand...
I'm really not actually sure what happened with Grand Companies... It's like they tried to copy Wings of the Goddess' national ranks, but completely forgot to include any of the content that made those good... Where's my Campaign system? Hamlet Defense would do as a Besieged-style world event. Campaign Ops would be a welcome addition compared to Company Levequests as well. Heck, even the way we rank up in Grand Companies is just... sad... when compared to how we ranked up in similar groups in XI...

if possible, do you want to elaborate on what the good systems in FFXI had? Many (like myself) have never played FFXI.They don't even need to do that...
