Anything saying they are going to make modifications to lore as a result? To clarify what i meant a little this is what I'm talking about:
Classes
Actions will undergo major revisions, along with both the underlying mechanics and conditions.
By major revisions, not only do we mean the tweaking of effects and potency of existing actions - we will work from the ground up to redesign and reassign actions based on clearly identified class roles.
They will not change the lore. I'm not saying this because the DEV said so either. I'm saying this because from a work stand point, that would be an insane task. For example. To change the conjure class lore from elemental, you have to change all of Gradinia. They quests, story, NPC chat, and just about everything else is rooted in the the conjures communing with nature and keeping the elements happy. Even the grand companies refer to this. They are still building off the lore for all the classes, so it is safe to say, they will not change it.

In all honesty not many jobs lore matches up with any of their corresponding class lores. When is the last time a PLD fought in a colliseum for the amusement of people? Do you ever recall a Monk running a bar type place like the PGLs? Maybe they will have their own storyline and lore which is the purpose of having the job quest to unlock it along with future job quests.
This is purely my speculation, but I have a theory on how they get those jobs. Ul'dah is the city that has the most religion in it. LL and Gridinia do not mention the gods like Ul'dah does. Anyways, Ul'dah has two big temples in dedicated to their twin god. Both the Monk and Paladin are religion themed. Monk referring to a type of priest that lives in a monastery and trains their body and paladin being a holy knight for the church. To tie in with the faith of Ul'dah, the faith a Nald'Thal could be recruiting defender for the city from two of the biggest resources of adventures, The GLA and PUG guilds. In all honesty not many jobs lore matches up with any of their corresponding class lores. Like I said, pure speculation.

For Lancer vs Dragoon/Dragon Knight, one need only look to the Holy Knights of Ishgard who have had rocky relationships with Gridania for some time and are built into the game's Gridanian lore as well. There will possibly be some form of setup around the Owl's Nest.
Just my personal guess, but I bet conjuror "unlocks White mage" but conjuror the class will be the Black mage.... and Thm will become Red Mage.
Ahem, they already said each class is getting one job. With CON and THM being the only two Magic classes atm, it seems like they will make CON BLM and THM WHM.
Ahem....No, thats not what they said. They said "initially" they will only release one job per class. That does not by any means, mean what happens beyond that cannot be discussed.
So whats your logic behind your guess Bowen? What brought you to the conclussion that the class with advanced healing (curaga), advanced resserections, and buffs, is more likely to be blackmage over the class that focuses on debuffs, life taps, light and dark magics, stat siphons, sacrafices ones blood to add health to another or to raise mag. potency?
I just don't think SE like mages very much, in my opinion they haven't made very many good decisions (not any bad one eithers, just meh mediocre ones) So whether or not THM gets blm or whm, I just hope its awesome. I wanted a whm type class (due to lore in the game), but I'll wait till we have to have the conj+thm= rdm, yoshi talked about with advanced jobs.
Something to consider:
They have confirmed White Mage, Black Mage AND Bard as job names. No one has tied Bard to any class yet.
If you view this pic: http://i53.tinypic.com/wveibs.jpg we do not see a bard character here. That is unless the Marauder is the bard. I don't think it is, but then, who really knows? We do know that the guy who keeps appearing in the Ul'Dah story quest with you is called a bard when you first meet him and he carries no weapon.
With bard, white mage and black mage all confirmed as jobs, is it possible that Thaumaturge could be bard and that the never released Arcanist could be white mage?
Some points have been made that Thaumature's spells are more buff/debuff stuff which is classic bard. I don't really know anything, but could it be? The guild hall is there for arcanist and we have seen the You-tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h9pLB4CHpo so there is some working form of arcanist in the game code.
I will say though in my own oppion, I think that Thaumature is going White Mage and at patch 1.20 you are gonna see healing spells taken from Conjurer and given to Thaumature. However, as I have shown, I could be wrong.
Thoughts?
