Agreed, go for botanist. There are a few fish that your retainers can get at 60 that are helpful, but they pale in utility a being able to send a botanist out to farm Cyclops onions at will. Half the time I find myself sending my fishing retainer out for level 5 white coral :P

Don't underestimate the value of the FSH retainer when it comes to getting crafting material. Half the time when I see a material needed for a craft that comes from fishing (especially older stuff) I go 'Ah crap... market board time.' The other half I go 'Ah crap... time to send my retainer out for that.' I generally don't do that with MIN and BTN since getting exactly what you want really quickly is pretty much assured just by going out and gathering it yourself. Also, Fat Cat minions still sell for lots when you get them back from the long Ventures.
