I tried to make a character named "Giant Dad" however, the server said it could not handle the load capacity for such a powerful character.

Why? I see it as more of the opposite - it means people are such big fans of your work that they want to play as one of your characters.
So for fictional characters' names, it's more of an apprechiation.
For real people's names though..hm. I think that might count as impersonation and could be bad. Everyone knows no Naruto, Cloud or Harry Potter really exists, but with real people it's different.

Not really. Its extremely disrespectful. You created a character and a "fan" should respect that. Anything you or I make is my own creation, my story. Anyone else playing it is just rude honestly. The creator can say who can play him well, but you will never play him as well as he envisioned. Why? If you truley liked the character. You would know that you can never copy or mimic it. If you like the character you should make a new character based on that character.
This is the big difference between someone who truley respects a character and just a fanboy. A fanboy wants to change the character and story to suit his needs, however someone who really likes the character envies him and stays away from ever using his or her name.
Reminds me of the 1000s of Inuyashas that popped up in RP when it was popular, he is cool yeah but don't you think seeing him everywhere really respects the character? Seeing him being "underplayed" by so many people is respectful?
No, its really not.

I guarantee you I respect Miss Reimu a lot, I have a replica of her shrine in my bedroom and I worship her used garments everyday.

Ok, but you can never play a character even close to what he or she the creator imagined. So in my eyes your actually disrespecting her. When you think about it more you will understand it. Your pretty much just a copy-cat. =3
I mean. Sorry, but I hate making things sound watered down and silly. I just tell people how it is, and some times the truth hurts.
I also would report you if I ever saw you in game.![]()

I don't know where you're deriving this mentality from but most people are flattered that their creations resonates so well with people that they want to mimick them. Otherwise cosplay would be a giant lawsuit.
But instead they appreciate and it's free advertisement.

I tried female alt Carmen Sandiego and it works lol.

Cosplay isn't being the character, when you cosplay your not going around telling people your XXX. You say your cosplaying as XXX.I don't know where you're deriving this mentality from but most people are flattered that their creations resonates so well with people that they want to mimick them. You can really respect the character, but do you think the Artist will like it if you show up looking like this? You need to learn that some times cosplaying can also have a negative effect, however your just cosplaying. Your not saying: "I am XXX! This is how it should be!" Since its well, real life. There is no way you can ever truley be that character in real life.
