You entirely missed the point—it's not a matter of whether or not the content can be completed and entirely one of whether or not the game feels populated to newer players, which is important. There are people who don't stay on servers or games that feel dead because one of the biggest parts of playing a game like this is socialization.

Even WoW did a bunch of things over the years to try to encourage players to be "out in the world," though a large majority of them failed spectacularly and from what I can tell they've largely given up on it.

So maybe you should actually understand that again, not all servers have the same circumstances instead of calling people out on being leeches.
And what does this have to do with Hunts at all?

If you have a dead server, that's another issue entirely.

On my server, I will see the usual 10+ people scouring the zone once the window opens and massive gatherings for the actual hunt. And, it's pretty common to get newbies wondering what's going on. I'd say you've succeeded when you give people the chance to ask that question as opposed to just being completely isolated in their leveling experience in a dead zone.

Socialization happens if the player in question is actually seeking for it. And again, the hunts are far from being the most optimal ways of doing so because everyone is in/out, even if they are actively searching for it.

You'd have to name a few outside of world/expansion launch events because they've never acknowledged this to be an actual problem that they were addressing. They added realm phasing which is essentially a server merge, and allow for players to friend with others from other servers to phase.

My response is more of a knee-reaction when people make posts like that and place the blame on players. My point is that the hunts still aren't the most ideal ways to encourage a "lively" open world to begin with, and I honestly doubt that was what they had in mind in the first place. Even if it werne't a dead server, it can still very well be the case and at best, would only be a temporary solution once people have finished their first anima (if previous steps such as Nexus are anything to go by)

Off the top of my head, the old World PvP content (the towers in Plaguelands, running Sands in Sithilis), as well as daily quest hubs in BC and WotLK. Later, in MoP, they made whatever crafting item it was (the name's escaping me) Bind on Pickup so that you couldn't sell them on the AH, requiring people to then be out in the world again. They specifically mentioned wanting to encourage people to do more than just sit in town all day at the time.

Much of that was before they added Cross Server tech, which was also a means by which they hoped to make zones feel less dead again.

Beyond that, I'm done. Every discussion on these boards lately seems to go this way and it's just getting unbelievably exhausting.

Would like this as an option as well, more options doesn't really hurt the anima grind & everyone remaining in the grind is pretty much a casual player who needs it.

I think people went a bit off track talking about WoW.. back to FF14... the 2.0 hunt has absolutely no affect on server population. I very much doubt people consider hunts when choosing a server since the hunt mobs are the same on every server. 60 players doing 2.0 hunts doesn't help 50 players at all.
