She's referring to Eidolon's post about "super tanking". It's a DPS's job to "quickly" kill adds. It's an OT's job to ensure the healers and DPS don't DIE during that phase of a fight.

Honestly, I've never heard the term "Supertank" as well, but I'm not as well rounded on end game raiding nor have I been a long time MMO raider/player. I can see how the guy may have thought you were just trying to ask "MT or OT" and maybe thought you (Eidolon) were just a new player using different terminology. Normally, the MT takes the boss and the OT takes the adds. Yes, he could of asked, but I wouldn't go so far as to call him an idiot.

I've never heard of the term 'Supertank' but given the context (faust tanking), it seems pretty obvious what this means though.

I don't tank so I tend to not comment on it at all.

The last (and only) time I heard supertank was on ffxi for tanks that used defense and hp to tank, as oposite to avoidance or kiting tank

To me, 'supertank' just sounds like someone flexing his muscles with how awesome he is at tanking, not necessarily meaning "I'll do the job of two tanks because I'm THAT good!"

I had a mental image of a tank doing the manderville pose. Now I really want to start going into dungeon's asking people if I can "Supertank" and then do that emote

But, I would also probably die if the other tank took me serious on the super tank aspect :P

Pursuant to DF horror stories-- I was in A2 yesterday for relic grind (playing as SMN). The WHM in our group only used Cure I and Cure II the entire fight, no cool downs, and was frequently just standing around not doing anything at full MP. Then ppl started to die. I did 3 resurrections as SMN and we somehow cleared (but with bodies on the floor at the end). I queue up again (this time as WHM myself) to avoid another situation like that. I get paired with the bad healer again-- this time he is playing on SCH. He says something sassy to me bc he was angry I called him out on how he was healing the last run. Things go badly for me-- we wipe twice and I get booted from the group (me healing as WHM, with my Thordan wpn). I was completely dumbfounded. Here is how it went down: PLD is wearing mind accessories (not even lying) adds are all over the place, nobody is in gobwalker, bombs are going off (we all have two or three stacks of debuff), sassy SCH is pulling a Nero and watching us all burn (he is neither doing dps nor healing), I have to cast aoe heals (more than I would have liked) to keep ppl up but because of this I am getting hammered by mobs pulling aggro, and SCH won't heal me. SCH calls me a horrible white mage and the tanks agree then I get vote kicked. Wow.

A3 on my bard with three BLMs and two WHMs dpsing the shit outta the boss without watching their mana (or our HP, we were at max. 50% and two people died). I was like "wtf do I sing now" xD In the end I chose to stick with requiem. Was cool.
