I have to wonder how the healers in this game that requires more than just sitting on your ass for 50% of every pull if you don't heal, y'know ones that require active healing in dungeons and constant raid wide dungeons. But right, their job is only to keep people alive. I guess my job is to make sure things die, and since I have 90 minutes to do that I can use an ability every few seconds while watching Netflix on my second monitor. Speaking seriously, if you're not constantly healing, I expect you to throw out DoTs, JP healers do it all the time there's really excuse (JP players <3). Honestly, how do you even have fun standing around doing nothing?

And also, people should stop taking the conjurer quest out of context; Slyphie isn't opposed to "using dps abilities" and wanting to just heal, but rather the refusal to learn about the elements (which isn't exclusively related to using dps spells, at least not explicitly mentioned as such).

Just wanted to say I love you for pointing this out. It's a good laugh when people take it out of context, but all it proves is that people don't know what they're talking about.

Funny you should mention that. Let's take a look at all of SCH's abilities, then:

DPS:

3. Energy Drain
4. Miasma
5. Bio II

A Fairy is arguably number 12 as it helps you DPS.

Healing:
1. Physick
2. Resurrection
3. Adlo
4. Succor
5. Leeches
6. Sacred Soil
8. Lustrate
9. Indomitability
10. Emergency Tactics
11. Deployment Tactics
12. Dissipation

Half of your skills as SCH are DPS skills. Do you honestly grey out half of the skills you have on your hotbar when you heal? Can you see how doing this is just lazy and inefficient?

All I've gotten from all 28 pages is..

Some healers like to DPS and heal, and prefer to always be on the constantly improving train. I've seen some amazing healers who just masterfully execute everything in such a nice flow.
Some healers like to focus on simply healing only. They may not be confident to do both, currently. / They do not want to do both. If you're waiting till you have a better grasp of the content to do DPS, great.

Neither side will adjust their stance, no matter how many pages you make this. If you still walk into DF, expecting "static style" performances, you've been in dream land for far too long. I walk into DF expecting the basic level of performance from all participants. If I get a good group, fantastic. If not, I do what I need to do, say ty, and leave (after completing the duty ofc). I've seen some DPS, who make me want to push a DF run, because I can see they're also pushing it too. So I consider it a sign of DPS respect to execute in the same manner.

I don't expect healers to dps but I appreciate it. A healer that helps speed up runs by dpsing earns commendations from me.

Being able to deal good dps without letting the tank come close to death is the sign of a great healer.

That's a good way to lose a healer mid dungeon. So instead of the run taking 3 minutes longer you end up with a wasted 30 minutes. DPS sure wins out there.

Sounds like a good trade to me. I'd rather loose a crappy healer and wait for a replacement than deal with their laziness. Fair turn is fair.

A healer not dpsing is the same as a dps using his level 15 rotation at level 60.

A healer not dpsing is the same as a tank that doesn't keep aggro from all mobs.

In a nutshell, if healers were supposed not to dps, half of their skills wouldn't be dps oriented. A healer sitting around throwing a cure every now and then is just lazy, there's no other way to sugarcoat this.
