If I want to DD, I'll go as DD. If I want to tank, I'll go as tank. If I want to heal, I'll go healer.

If I have time to, I might indulge in throwing some dots out. But I won't have anyone trying to force me to do it.

I could argue by playing inefficiently you should be paying for the sub of the other people you're running with because you're wasting their time.

Not healing would be playing "inefficiently" - I fail to see how it's wasting people's time.

Inefficient means not playing to the best of your abilities. technically, I could just spam the Full Thrust combo and we'd clear the dungeon. Eventually. But I'd be doing about 1/3 of my jobs full potential. That's inefficient.

Not healing at all is being a piece of crap who gets booted from any party I'm part of.

Frankly, I don't care whether healers DPS or not, I more than make up the difference. But the "MY SUB SO I PLAY MY WAY" bull crap doesn't fly when the other three people are paying subs too.

This! When i See as a Tank the healer is sleeping, i switch in dps stance and pull the whole dungeon. Every aoe Class loves me for that and the u See the healer O.O and everybody can do his Job :-D

Probably worth noting that a quick check of the topic starter's profile yields the fact that he/she hasn't really leveled anything but healers past level 50, therefore he/she has yet to experience the fact that tank and DPS damage actually isn't so much higher than a healer's that healer damage contribution is meaningless. From my observations, yeah, for pre-HW content, healer DPS isn't really that good, and we have less emergency heals as well.

But perhaps healer DPS in Heavensward may be overtuned. I feel there is a MASSIVE jump in healer damage output from 50-60, while other classes may not have gained as much in comparison (in some cases just gaining rotation-extending gimmicks that only really improves their damage output if they manage it properly).

It's to the point where a well-geared healer in HW content has the potential to out-DPS lesser geared DPS classes when fighting against packs of mobs (or in the case of WHM, contribute so much burst damage that a simple Holy -> Aero III -> Holy -> Assize rotation for me typically does like 30-40% of mob HP, which is nowhere NEAR meaningless). We gained a few instant emergency heals too, which if used effectively, gives us way more time to DPS without having to worry about the tank dying.

I'm not saying you should always DPS as much as possible as a healer. But if you can do it while making sure no one's at risk of dying, then you absolutely should.

It's more sarcasm than being obnoxious. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I gave mine. I'm just replying to the more pointed posts.
