Why is Heavensturn Always So Terrible?

You can store items from events in the Armoire straight away now actually, was mentioned in 3.1's patch notes I believe. Stored the monkey butt helmets there already.

FFXIV's short events are so much better than the grindy events other games have. They usually take a half hour at most if you go slowly, and then you can spend another hour or so looking at all the decorations and trying to find funny or hidden things and point then it to friends. They're a great little break that give out a few rewards.

Heavensturn is definitely one of the worse events but even then, the fate was nice and there were some clever and fun snowmen decorations, like the one that was melting or the tiny ones in the bamboo.

Heavensturn surely has gone bad since the first one. The first one was really nice, and even had a few familiar faces show up throughout the somewhat long questline for it. I miss that, we need more events that have a long questline like that (but without the FATEs).

It did seem in a little poor taste that it was so easy to actually die during what is supposed to be a fun celebratory event, though it is certainly doable in a few different ways with any class. I also think the rewards are terrible and didn't even bother wardrobing them as I knew I would never ever use them. The housing items aren't too bad though.

Eh, overall, I appreciate the concept but this was a definite fail for me overall. At least it didn't take long to do.

This year, it's do 1 FATE, which is impossible to do without mages or ranged attackers due to the opo opos staying within the AOE right next to the cyclops and the AOE puts stun and sleep on you and kills you in 2 hits. This FATE is incredibly short sighted in that unless you have a mage or ranged class, you can't do anything.

I did it solo on my dragoon just fine, and didn't die, so maybe it's not the FATE that's a problem, and just personal awareness?

the "boss" has 3 cast speeds that he cycles through. It only takes a moment to see which one he's doing, run in, interact with the drum, run out again before it goes off. It's far from impossible.

Taht being said, the events aren't exactly awe-inspiring in the least, but they're an interesting little distraction for a few minutes, so that's good enough for me, it's not like new year's (or the chinese new year, even) is a huge holiday, it's just something to pass the time with.

I kissed the floor in the finest tradition of loldrgs everywhere. I'll admit it, I was just being lazy and stood right in the AoEs. I didn't actually think that an event fate would kill me outright like that and I laughed so hard at myself as I respawned and came back. xD

I saw a few sproutlings die as they ran past, I about pissed myself laughing because it all felt so ridiculous lol, not gonna say it's not a dangerous FATE or anything, cuz yeah death is very possible XD, was just pointing out that calling it "impossible" is a far stretch as well haha, glad to hear you had as much fun as I did with it though =p

Seeing the giant POUNDING MOCHI was awesome and made me wanna eat the mochi.........

I thought paissa is some kind of rat until I realized it's a monkey lol. Btw the fate is really... Randomly fun as ranged dps. It's funny using troll as mochi maker.
