I wouldn't spend poetics on i120 gear given that you get a free set of i115 the moment you set foot in HW, quickly replaced by i125 at lv 52-53. And you'll need poetics for other stuff, like your anima relic. Get the i120 gear if you like the looks (as glamour). I personally skipped over it (I quit shortly before 2.3 and came back in 3.0, I just used the quest-given gear and did fine).

That does seem like it would make more sense. I know I dont need to go for my relic weapon before the anima relic but do you think its advisable to do so? or will the weapon get replaced as well as the armor when I hit HW?

The relic you can do for glamour, achievement or to skip the first step of the new relic. But it's unlikely to be doable in less than a week of very intensive play. Do the new relic up to getting the i200 version and do the old relic later if you want for achievement, glamour etc. It'll also let you skip the first step on another Anima (there's 10 old relics, but 13 anima relics, given the new jobs). The i170 of the first step of Anima is as good as the law weapon you'd get. The i200 is as good as the esoterics weapon you'd get. And you can do that in under a week.
