It's busting their balls because, if that is in fact a bow-harp/lyre designed for a Bard class from Archer, this is a really bad idea in almost every conceivable way. Practically and lore-wise it makes no sense, and worse, it's an error in judgement for the implementation of the job system in that's it's trying to fit a job into a class where it doesn't belong. It's also just aesthetically stupid looking.
Id just like to ask ... why is that a bad idea?? Did COR was a bad idea on FFXI? Cause to me it seems very similar to have a ARCBARD or a COR... It's a ranged DPS who can debuff/enhance

There is nothing wrong with a ranged debuff/buff class. There is something wrong with an archer bard.

Corsair made sense. It was a gambler and the buffs and debuffs included an element of chance, and the weapon was gun. All things that fit the gambler persona. The same cannot be said for an "archer bard." Musician and archer are completely different disciplines which have nothing to do with one another. It's silly and impractical to combine them.

Yeah I see and I agree it seems strange but I still find ArcBrd pretty cool. What if it makes music while the arrow get shot? this could give it some sense ^^ Anyway to me w/e weapon it uses, a DD/debuff job will be nice!

Thaumaturge could already fill that role, except in it's current form most debuff spells have such a long recast that they aren't worth equipping except for longer fights. (and maybe not even then... oO)

I am in favor of debuffing classes, and corsair was one of my favorite jobs in ffxi... but if the corsair gave buffs through a gun-flute it would have been a different story. The corsair made sense as a gambling gunslinger, buffs from dice, debuffs from cards and a gun for added badassery.

The notion of an archer having to stop, fold up his bow into a lyre, strum out a tune and then unfold his bow again... there is no part of that sequence that makes sense. The whole concept sends up warning flags in my mind, somewhere in the dev team someone is making bad decisions, and they need to be reigned in...

This atrocity shouldn't have ever made it this far into development. It really worries me that it has.

Meh again, I agree it's strange but seriously...... It is less than a guy debuffing with... dances...

EDIT: Don't get me bad. I just try to explain it is sad everyone is unhappy when they add real new things... I bet in 3 month everyone will want a ARCBRD in their pt and you will see comments (TP BURN ONLY) XD

How, IN ANY WAY, does that make sense? Firing an arrow to play an instrument is absurd.

The whole concept of sticking an instrument onto a bow to make a Bard is absurd. I mean hell, if we're gonna do that, how bout we make Pugilist a Samurai. We can give him weapons where 1 of the knuckles is a hilt, and the other is a blade, and when he holds them together JUST RIGHT, they TRANSFORM into a katana! Woo!

No. The idea is ridiculous, just like a transformable instrument-bow.

Yeah, it's just like a bunch of guys in hooded robes flailing a stick around can make all your serious wounds suddenly vanish. Just what kind of game is this anyway?

I will admit that a good portion of my negativity is based on speculation, but I am not pulling that speculation out of thin air. My speculation is based on actual things Yoshida has said in regards to the job system. I can take all my opinions and speculations point by point with reference to Yoshi's comments if you like.

I won't apologize for my negative view though. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. And to everyone who is intolerant of any negativity on these forums you are not being realistic. If you want things to get better it doesn't happen by waiting and seeing.

I don't mean to be rude, but that's a crappy point, honestly.

Magic and mages wielding wands are an accepted, longstanding, and actually pretty logical staple of Final Fantasy and the fantasy genre in general. Bow-harps and bard-archers are not, in the slightest.

Honestly, I thought it was a fantastic point. :P Throughout the Final Fantasy series we encounter new worlds, monsters, stories, characters, and even jobs. I really don't see how this can seem outlandish at all, especially in this ever-expanding franchise. If they added bow harps this time around, I personally would welcome it. I already wanted to play Bard, but if they do end up turning out this way, I think I would have even more fun playing it.
