Is Yoshi P the king of all producers? no, but his relationship with the game, and with its fans is something to applaud and appreciate.
I respect your right to feel that these fan interactions are positive. I am sorry I feel that these fan fests and live letters are just publicity stunts and don't serve the community any more at this point. I am happy some people feel that this draws them closer to them. From a lot of live letters I could simply have had a forum post. A better moderation and stickies of current serious issues could clean up some of the forums.

I will not speak for the majority but I know a few people who feel alienated by this practice. They have time and time ignored the pressing issues or at least reoccurring ones. Not to mention the out right lies. A little less interaction and a little more work or lies take your pick. And if they can not get what they say inline with (management) then it is best not to say anything.

Also the person who started this thread not you. Has not played very many other MMOs. The game isn't compared to the last patch. It is compared to every other game on the market.

wow, publicity stunts is a harsh (and incorrect) statement, definitely PR for upcoming content, but calling it a publicity stunt is a bit too far. I want to point you in the direction of the newest live letter, and the opening segment (current state of the game), in which the developers acknowledged most of the vocal feedback from the forums (naturally not all of it, but the first M in MMO is massive, so not everyone is going to be happy), the acknowledged that alex savage was too hard, they acknowledged that diadem was broken, and while I'm not happy with their answer to relic, they at least did their best to explain their design process and philosophy (and to keep you happy, Yoshi even made it a forum post). This statement is made because of player feedback, and if anything the development team are guilty of listening and taking player feedback too much.

You also have to remember that the dev team isn't immortal, they are stuck under SE upper management, and Yoshi P has hinted at struggles for funding (likely the fault of 1.0, not the current game) and lack of staff, and that's what causes server limitations, and housing problems, and that is why those problems are ignored, because honestly, there's not much to say other than sorry (don't know if you have ever tried to communicate that kind of statement to a mob mentality), and that's not even mentioning the problems of us still being on 1.0s framework.

I'm not defending the OP's posts, but it seems like we can't support the dev team and give feedback at the same time, we either have to hate them, or ignore or the flaws in the game, and neither make for a healthy developer-customer community.

Honestly, like someone said in another topic, I'm not really knocking off the excuse or reasoning why it's happening, but it is and the game is starting to fall off because of it. We honestly don't even know for sure, other than the fact that the "server limitations" or limitations in general card has been thrown out and out since 2.x, as if it wasn't a big problem that it should've been addressed in something as big of a release as 3.x. It's the one time where they truly need to aim to impress, rather than cut corners to push out a release, especially since it sets the groundwork for later 3.x patches.

It's when the liveletters themselves that do not remedy the issues, cause additional issues, or confuse the players that becomes a problem. For example in the previous one, he'd explain that Alexander is tuned too hard, but hte reasoning was that the players asked for it; and somehow the players who wanted harder content more than outweighed the ones who don't (and they somehow came to the logical conclusion that while SCoB (too hard from what I heard) had lower clear rates than FCoB (apparenetly too easy from what I heard), Gordias should be harder than SCoB).

Their reasoning for handling the Ilvls and the "release" of relic quests is also questionable since they don't want to drop the significance of A4s weapons...even though the majority people aren't even stepping in there in the first place, let alone clearing it (with the intended method). The Developer-consume relation has already dwindled in previous liveletters, and the recent one honestly hasn't given me much to look forward to in 3.2 because of that.
