If you venture to the Northeast black shroud you can see where the name comes from. Some nifty areas with the sylph village as well it's a shame we can't venture into it though.

The sylph village is awesome; it's shame we can't properly visit it. However, the camera, if tilted properly, CAN see a bit inside, and what's in there looks awesome.

There are a lot of unique areas around Eorzea, they just get buried under the massive scale of everything else.
