I'm not an expert on governmental politics, but this sounds a lot like Communism or Socialism. A society where nobody really competes for anything, and the people are given only what they need. There's no reason to do anything above what is just required to get by, because fuck it; it doesn't matter. That's not any place that I'd like to live. Unfortunately, people die every single day. That's life. To live a life without striving for anything isn't a life I care to live. I enjoy working. I enjoy providing for my family. I enjoy working hard at what I want. If there wasn't anyone competing with me trying to do that exact same thing, why would I have to try at all? As much as it sucks that there's another guy next to me not able to do those things, I'll reach back to help him out if I can. But, I'll never let him surpass me, unless it's on his own merit, and have to hope he'll extend a hand when I need it. Because, that's life.

On the bright side, in most religions, that's actually the place where you go when you die and lived a good life. The notion of "paradise" is characterized by abundance and thus a lack of competition.
So if any of those religions happen to be true by sheer coincidence, all you have to do to avoid such a place is being a jerk. You could learn that from some of the posters around.
That aside, people die every second, yes. The sad fact here is that so many people die needlessly because of competition. For example, delivery companies could easily hire two truck drivers that alternate shifts so one doesn't cause an accident because he's tired and falls asleep mid-drive (Or, allow them some longer sleep-breaks). That alone would save hundreds of lives each year. But it isn't done, unless the law demands it, because it is costly, limits your delivery times and thus, is detrimental to the competitive standing of the company. It's cheaper to just pay compensations whenever it happens. And that's just one fairly harmless example.

I don't know why this was brought up but having competition isn't going to ruin this game honestly they give everyone trophies at the end of the day so everyone goes home happy. Yes it's fine, but for someone like me who does enjoy PvP it's about bringing my friends and FC mates and having a lot of fun, which is why i'm really excited for ranked PvP.
The only real competition was/is Alex Savage which people didn't like because of the appeal/difficulty if it was more rewarding for the time and effort people put in then it would indeed be competition you could look forward too. I welcome 3.2 with the PvP season and new raids it'll give a reason to PvP/raid with my FC again and give players more rewards rather than a "thanks for playing!" sticker at the end of the day.
