Just got finished with a Brayflox HM run, went decently enough except for the first big pull: the tank derped and forgot to put on Defiance until after he was finished gathering up mobs!
The twist: I was the tank in question, not the healer! /blush
Forget about Wolves' Den, or Frontlines, or hell, even The Feast - if you want real PVP action in this game, sell stuff on the market boards!

Okay since I managed to avoid healing the vault to get WHM to 58, I decided to do it as AST for my first run. I got paired with a DRK, a MNK and a PS3 playing BLM.
The first leg of this place was hectic but we manged to get by. The first boss was also manged without casualties.
Then I died to a pack of trash and had to return, the DRK was clearly running from his life and went backwards (This happened another time today when I was healing Stone Vigil on Roulette, also on AST, the difference was that there was 1 enemy following the tank there, as opposed to a pack of mobs in the Vault)
Then we come Ser Grinneaux the Bull (I'm tempted to make an small amendment to that title) and His HyperdimensionNeptuniaSlash. Managed to win that, but the MNK died in the process and I took 2 stacks of the Vulnerability debuff.
Last leg was easy, more of less. Last boss, not so much, Chains, meteors, Bishops, things were rather hectic of course. Manage to win with by the skin of our teeth though (DRK and MNK died at the end)
One last thing, due to the difficulty of this place I decided to prioritize saving and buffing Bole over Balance when possible, even royal roaded the latter.
My AST isn;t 58 yet sadly and I also have to bring ACN up there too, so I;m sure there ight be some more horrors form the Church of Halone soon

Finally I have one for this thread.... wait thats not a good thing -_-!
anyway: Fractal 1st boss: can't remember what the DPS were but tank was WAR I was WHM ilv195... needless to say they stood in almost every AoE & died 2 times each min due to bosses Dot's & vunerable debuff, try'd my ass off to heal them & remove the stuff (used a ben on 1 cause they were both low HP so I could heal the other up... then the ben'd guy dies while I was casting cure 2 on the other DPS) only comment they gave me after we "won" was "how can u be that geared & suck that bad!" my responce was something about a slight mention of them maybe dodging more they both left & I felt like a horrible healer for the rest of the dungeon... even thou their replacements nevered died the rest of the dungeon & they could dodge
as me FC/RL friend put it "Don't u just 'love' DPS who think there combo/DMG is more important than anything else"

When DPS ignores mechanics of the fight and complain when I "choose" not to heal bad players. You stand in the fire, you deserve to burn.

Okay so I was running The Vault a few times to level up scholar...first few runs were enjoyable, but the last one was taxing on my capabilities. I got stuck with a MNK who was new to the instance, a DRK and a BLM, we wiped on the first boss and it only got worse from there. Due to a string of bad lack and other mishaps incolicng tears, the 2 DPS died during the fight with Ser Grinnaux the Bull(shit) after his He-Man form kicked in, wipe, then came Ser Kills-Hauchefaunt-a-lot with his endless supply of meteors, "preeties" and chains to wipe us time after time after time. The tank pulled before I could explain the mechanics, and my performance was subpar as a result. We could even kill enougt of the balls during that DPS checks. we barely killeed 6..once and the last times we couldn't even manage 5 before I knew I have to use Soil-Covenant combo...guess what happened next.
After an apology or two I decided to leave, eat the penalty, and fate-grind my way to 58, at least FATEs don;t have me pushing up boulders only to have them roll down again

Soooo. This is kind of a long one. It involves Ultima's Ballad, which I was running to help my brothers clear it.
Alright, first off we get a bunch of other new people to the fight. Whatever, no big deal. First pull the tanks don't hold hate at all. NIN becomes paper tank... We wipe obviously. Okay.. Next pull. Same thing except I'm now MT. We ask the tanks to hold hate (the PLD was in SwO so we assumed WAR was MT before first tank swap). After another wipe we start get a little suspicious of the tanks. They don't hold hate at all, and then one started to pull with Provoke. I questioned that, no answer. I end up tanking the boss for like 2 more wipes and I start to wonder if I should even do anything. One of my brothers told me to maybe not use Medica II, which I considered because it pulled so much enmity when I used it (though I didn't even use it that often). Same brother eventually asked the PLD to use ShO since the WAR was obviously doing a bad job of MTing. The PLD does, and actually holds hate! So I start to really get suspicious of the WAR. And it turns out she is the one using Provoke at the start of a pull, and she completely ignores Orb mechanics. They even asked me at one time why I died so fast when I was tanking the boss, as a WHM. Seriously?
Well, long story short, we eventually get the WAR to finally tank swap with the PLD at one point. We end up wiping to final Orbs though. Then the sh*t hits the fan, so to speak. The NIN is getting fed up with the WAR, as am I, and asks them "should I drop DPS during tank swap? I'm above you in enmity every time", which I reply "everyone is." No lie. The WAR would drop to about 4-6th in the list when they swapped. WAR eventually complained we were all bad, which we basically all laughed at. We kicked her. I know, you need to tank swap but... Well.
So I insist we can try with one tank (we have like 20 minutes left at this point), I explained it would be hell but we could try to push through it. I saved my SC for Rezzing the tank when he would die to tank buster mechanic, and I tried my best to keep everyone alive. I know I did good job too. My brothers are MCH and BRD so I asked them for MP heals when I needed it, and they were very good at giving it to me. The PLD was a REALLY good tank too. He knew what he was doing, and would pull hate as fast as he could when he died. But... weakness is a bitch, and when you seemingly only have one healer...
That's another thing. The SCH was really slow (they blamed their internet, which is fine) and they pretty much only cast Succor, as far as I could tell. And when they had the MP, they never rezzed anyone. I always had to do that. They also had issues with dodging Ifrit eruptions, and I had to rezz them about twice as many times as everyone else, combined (this includes the tank). No lie. If I even took my eye off the tank to heal someone else, the tank would end up dying about 1/3rd of the time, because the SCH never used Lustrate or Adlo... Which suuuucked. So I was healing everyone with AoEs, healing the tank with Cures, spot healing others where needed, rezzing anyone who died, and recasting Protect if I had a second. It was intense. Lol I salvaged one fight while my BRD brother tanked the boss. I think like... The PLD, SCH, and two DPS were down. I got them all up some how and kept my brother alive. We wiped shortly after though.
Well... Then we had another BRD.. And she liked to use AoEs on Ultima, for some reason? Adding that with a MCH and a BRD who were healing my MP (when I needed it), our DPS was anything but spectacular. She was also very squishy, which is fine. But when there are three people taking one Orb and you drop to 300 HP? OMG. The NIN was really good though, so no issues there.
All that aside? We could have actually cleared Ultima, no lie. We just needed the Tank LB for the final orbs and we would have been golden (SCH didn't understand orbs, even after we explained them), but the tank(s) were either dead, or the LB was late. We were so close one time, with one tank, but he pulled his LB out too late and we wiped. D:
It was fun, and frustrating (mostly frustrating), and I really wish I could have given comms even though we abandoned (the NIN and PLD were great).

I don't know if it's because it is the day after Christmas or if doing roulettes minutes after the reset brings out the worst people, but my run of the Castrum today was painful. Had a tank who pulled ENTIRE ROOMS OF MOBS and caused us to wipe twice. I voted kicked him out cause he clearly wasn't going to learn and was probably trolling since he admitted to being "thick headed". 20 minutes passed until another tank came in and they didn't even bother to help us out, so I knew they were just afking in a corner to leech off the group. Thankfully, someone else started a vote kick and got rid of him. Had to do the rest of the run with a single tank and it was not fun with aggro bouncing all over the place.
I was there (MCH) and it was the most ridiculous run of Ultima I've ever done. I've done it multiple times as a SCH (different account) so it was kind of new-ish going in as DPS. I did everything I could to make life easier for everyone (taking as little damage as possible, and swapping Turret Promotions) but in the end when you have a terribad SCH (I still doubt it was internet since he was walking everywhere, not lag-running, walking) a super troll of a tank and a DPS who AoE'd the boss and was equipped with a level 49 grey bow, there is only so much you can do.
Oh well, I had fun and we are going to have to try again soon.
