Cool meme words from 2012 aside here, for real, how disappointing is it that this statement is still correct in this game? It's probably best to just ignore that the housing system even exists at this point. Doubly so when you consider that this new system just serves to trap you into paying for a game with next to no relevant content indefinitely. After all, if you stay away for too long they'll take away the only thing that you can get in this game that doesn't become useless within a patch or two.

From an ethics standpoint there is nothing fundamentally wrong with Greed. Greed is simply the desire to obtain something you don't already have. It's a quite basic and necessary function of human nature. It would be like saying Ambition is wrong. The ethics come into greed in how the object of desire is obtained.

A merchant might want money and a bandit might want money. They will use two very different methods to obtain that money and as such the ethics of there actions are different even if the results are the same.

In the current situation the wealth is being gained by the denial of access to a product rather than the sale of the product itself. A ingame counterpoint to this would be crafting. While a crafter may vastly overcharge on what something is worth, they are still manufacturing and providing a product people want. In the crafter's case they are creating supply to meet a demand. In the case of the housing it is creating a shortage to increase demand.

Then again Eorzea is hardly a morally righteous place. I've spent the past hour feeding souls to my weapon.

My question is why defend or discuss what the other players do? Shouldn't it simply be the people responsible for the current system have to be let go and hire people from another company who know how to provide housing?

That's what I'm planning. I was half thinking about it already when looking around at houses yesterday. I think Ill save for a medium house instead. I should have the fund in about 5 months when 3.3 drops.

Yup, i don't really have a solid in-game income as i don't craft a lot so i know i'll miss on a lot of funds comes 3.2 and beyond but heh i just sell what i get here and there from quick ventures, dungeons minions, or mining things. I'm about 10 mil away from a Med house which is what i'd want to move in with the wife.
