when ask if fat chocbos can fly in HW yoshi.p said no in a liveletter, then look what we got. anything could happen at this pointI keep reposting cause people seem to be going for eachothers throats like they're the ones responsible for why the developers aren't going to release it. This is simply not true, the developers never were going to release it, and it's not because of lore, nor immersion or even lack of demand. They felt it just wouldn't look right traveling as fast as every other mount in the game. And the reason they don't want to just make it go faster is as simple as balance and loading speeds. I think a motorcycle mount would be neat, but if the developers already made up their minds then I'm not going to question it. It's not my game, I'm just playing it.
It doesn't make sense from a technological perspective, Eorzea doesn't have any bikes or efficient wheeled form of transportation aside from basic carts. Even then, the large Chocobo carriages are held aloof by balloons, not wheels. Maybe one day if we go to Othard or any other place that has a history of wheeled transport, but transportation in Eorzea is surprisingly chocobo, then airship-centric.
A hover-bike would make more sense than a wheeled one.
If I recall in Ul'dah right outside the Goldsmith Guild, there are two lalafells having an exchange, one talking about a pedaled wheeled vehicle, and the other just saying why not use a chocobo.

I'm not understanding the speed issue. Its like saying the ahriman is justified to not be able to fly high in non-flight zones when that's all it ever does. Same for the ADS mount, all it does it hover in non-flight zones. But those make sense to people as to why they can't fly. If you want to play 'reality' in a game that has Fantasy in the title, the reality is that the bike couldn't even go faster than ADS or Behemoth at top speed. The behemoth covers large amounts of area so if it were to actually run, it would obviously cover more distance. This awkward argument is so silly since people are trying to put logic in a fantasy world. Garlean tech would make it possible if you want to synch it to lore and we have Cid who could build it. But hey, the JP community wanting a flying turtle out of respect to Godzilla isn't weird.

True, but we are talking about transportation. Eorzeans are much more used to balloons/chocobo air-carriages/airships and chocobos/animal mounts than wheeled vehicles. What wheels exist, exist in the form of basic carts.

We're not going to be in Eorzea forever. Nor is every location in the setting limited by Eorzea's technological level. There's this weird habit people have where they play MMO's such as WoW and FFXIV and then try to paint them as being 'medieval' when in reality they are far from that.
On top of that if you don't like a particular mount then there's no need to use it, is there?
Of course that's a different case then, but as it is now I don't feel like there's no place for it.
And using that as a mount? Probably not, maybe few spins for laughs.

It's not an issue of lore or universe. It's a game mechanics issue. The game updates at a certain rate, I think I heard 0.2 seconds? Mounts move at a speed that translates rather easily to this rate. But, the faster you go, the more you start to outpace the game so much that enemies around you don't immediately spawn in. This could be pretty bad if you're in the new Heavensward areas. This is why ground mounts only move so fast and mounts that are flying don't aggro unless really low to the ground. For a more extreme example of the speed issue you should try flying around in Minecraft in Creative mode. Eventually you'll find yourself moving faster than the game can populate chunks.
As great as that explanation was, it had nothing to do with what I said. The devs do not want to implement the bike because they feel it wouldn't be realistic for the bike to match the speed of every other mount in game. So I broke down the logic behind every other mount in game, explaining as to why their logic makes no sense since every mount wouldn't run at the same speed anyway. So the reasoning is silly for not implementing it.
