Err. You can't glamour i120 gear to look like i170 gear though. i120 gear is for level 50 and i170 is for level 60.
When I examened him and looked at his chest piece it was Ironworks Armor of Fending, but on his character it looked like Yasha Hara-ate of fending to me. He was a Lalafell so it probably looked different from my Au'Ra in the heat of the moment (even though I had my glasses on)... embarressing. I'll go hide in a corner now.
Lalas always look like shapeless potatoes anyway. Pretty hard to distinguish gear.When I examened him and looked at his chest piece it was Ironworks Armor of Fending, but on his character it looked like Yasha Hara-ate of fending to me. This is a good question to ask. I'm not too sure about the difference (if any) between a BLM and a WHM (or other mages). What I know is that I cannot take 2 orbs without cures without dying, as a bard. I can, however, take 2 as a whm (leaving me pretty low on HP but still). For the 3 orbs, I need at least one cure. I usually cast two cures, as you never can tell who is gonna hit by the boss' lazer nor kwhen.I've been wondering, are the orbs affected by magic or physical? You'd assume magical, but when i tested this with a BLM having both Manawall and Manaward up.... the buffs didn't disappear, yet i would still take the full damage of a orb. Meaning i didnt get by physical OR magical. i dont know what happened there, i found it weird.
I did EX roulette on my WHM last night and got a PLD tank who asked if they could do big pulls. I said yes, dps said yes, off we went. I did divine seal, regen, asylum, holy shit cure 2 cure 2 cure 2 E4E oh you used Hallowed? Cool JESUS, Tetragrammaton...here have a medica 2 for the extra regen tick wtf, cure 2 cure 2 shroud of saints have I forgotten how to heal??? Wtf...
Gone was the notion of tossing out supplementary dps, between that heal-hungry PLD, a monk who kept taking inexplicable collateral damage and dcing, and machinist who somehow kept losing his stoneskin. We wiped at the second boss because I don't even know why...probably all of us. Everyone kept taking so much damage. The monk stood in a puddle of poison and dc'd. He said his lag was so bad he saw me raising him while he was still alive.
I felt like the worst healer ever, but for some reason those dps gave me their comms.

Uhm... I don't see why you say that about yourself.. The cure spam suggests that PLD either was not using cooldowns, or pulled more than his body can handle - the latter is an overlooked thing. Though you could have been overhealing too and drying yourself up sooner. And like you said, everyone kept taking so much damage. If DPS ain't dodging things, you're going to be taxed more.
But DS + Regen = Cure 2
Ayslum = about 1/2 of Regen(without DS)
Medica 2(without DS) is close to Cure 1(initial cast) and about the same as a DS+Regen with its additional effect.
Do the math, the tank is being spam healed FOR FREE. You should only, in an ideal situation, cast cure 2 a few times and just ride Cure 1, till stuff wears off
And BIG SIGN that you have to heal a tank 100% of the time is when you can't make time for 1 Stone III, and even moreso if it already feels like a death is coming for the ACT of casting Holy(Holy is for mitigation, not just damage).
In conclusion; You did what any experienced healer would do in this situation and thats pull out all the stops to keep people alive.
Damn... Did he forget to activate ShO or something? As a Pld, I've done that before. Kinda embarrassing, but it's usually easy to notice because it becomes ridiculously difficult to hold hate. It was either this or he just wasn't using buffs efficiently. The Dps being pants on head stupid probably didn't help either. I don't think many Dps realize just how much strain they put on the healer by standing in stupid or even just being slow (longer fights = more Mp draws). Honestly, it sounds like one of those perfect storm moments where everything that could go wrong did go wrong.
This usually happens with undergeared or unskilled tanks, more than anything. You can really feel those big pulls in Expert Roulette when they aren't up to snuff. When the tanks are decent, even the big pulls are relatively easy and you shouldn't be spamming Cure II desperately trying to keep them alive. Unfortunately, everyone and their mother thinks they can speedrun the new zones, and more often than not it usually gets someone killed in Arboretum.
Try to weave in some Holy spells early in the pull to stun and prevent damage for a few seconds, it's really all you can do.
I honestly forgot to check their stance...I didn't even check their gear, there wasn't much downtime and I had to keep them alive. I didn't think I was that rusty for healing!Damn...
