This.
That said, I have the same concerns myself, that it will either be abused by jerks or not incentivized enough for people to help. It's a hard balance.
Forget about Wolves' Den, or Frontlines, or hell, even The Feast - if you want real PVP action in this game, sell stuff on the market boards!

I will teach them to do speedrun and ignore irrelevant mechanics so the game will have more players who can play faster.
People seriously criticizing the system without even knowing any real information about it?

As a more than decent crafter and gatherer, I'll be more than happy to help people learn the ropes, because the game needs more high-level crafters and gatherers in it.

I am honestly hoping their are no rewards.
Mentor system worked very well in ffxi w/o rewards and really players should be far more willing to help new players.
The mentor system should be your way of giving back to the community yus yus.. ^-^ a title might be nice! But not much else.

It wont be abused... it will attract selfless helpful people, and most of which will be the kind that want to help but can't really help, if that makes any sense. Aka people with big hearts.
My ls leader was a mentor in ffxi, really nice chap always helpful with quests spent majority of his time doing that. Awful rdm tho, never beat maat kept trying to melee him down.
