They really need to reword this then. They specifically said: If it is removed from the estate by the owner or another player. That makes me believe, as the purchaser, if removed by the owner if the item, it will be lost. Its that same message...for an Oasis Dining Table (the Carby Chair also gives it)
This particular error began after Shared Housing started; it applies to all furnishings, not just those that break on removal.
There is a different error for items that can't be removed; if I had an item that did that laying around, I'd take a screenshot of that error.
EDIT: Lol, didn't realize that the FC line was in this; this is my personal house, leaving my FC won't do anything to my stuff
You not really spending real money to get the furnishing unless you don't care about the RL item the plushie and just buying it for the item. It just a bonus you get for buying the plushie.
That still doesn't change the fact that the only way to get it is by spending RL money.
Bonus or not, it's an item they're saying you can lose if it's removed from the estate. I'd like to keep all I paid for and not half of it.
Doubt it, pretty sure someone will be selling it in game in PF and someone with ton of gil will be able to buy it off another player that way.
Who cares if someone wants to give away or trade an item they paid for? And it's not like there aren't other Mog Station items that can be traded already. It's kinda sucky in that if you move houses you'll lose it, especially for a rare item, but it's like that to prevent ppl from reselling a normally untradable item I'd imagine.
I'm not sure how they'd get around that since any furnishing / airship part that's "binding" isn't truly bound unless it's destroyed on removal.
If they removed the destroy on pick-up, the absolute worst scenario I can think of is an FC mate or tenant with furnishing privileges picking it up and stealing it, and in that scenario: A) Easily preventable by not giving access to untrustworthy people. B) They could just as easily destroy the furnishing with the current system! And what would you care whether they stole it or destroyed it, either way you lose the item you paid real life money for.
The destroy on pick-up system has always been pretty silly, but this is just unacceptable.
Not really. It doesn't say "removing this item will result in its destruction" (like I'm 99% sure items that do this say when you place them), it says "these actions may result in the loss of the item", and lists a set that can lose it instantly (tenant/FC member removing the item from the house, or leaving an FC and the item is in the FC house), or after a set period of time (failing to reclaim it from the salvager or whatever he's called after being discharged from an FC [and you owned a Private room] or your house being demolished after the disuse period [personal house]. Think you have a month or two to get your stuff back from him).
As for your quote...if you remove the item from your house, and accidentally vendor it or throw it away...you've just the item :P Sorry, had to point out the obvious there.
EDIT: You should also update your OP, so you stop spreading misinformation. Met another BLM today that said their AoE is useless (in this case, everything at the beginning of Pharos Hard...which is what, 10 mobs or so?) because Fire IV is higher base potency than Fire II and that's what he read on Reddit.

I used to, if not defend, at least understand the "Destroy on pickup" items. It keeps rare items rare. People who get the rare drops can sell them for tons of gil, or craft the rare furnishing and make even more gil. The people who get the furnishings are satisfied that they have someyhing not many others do.
This is not worth it. Avoiding somewhat upsetting a handful of people who won't get as much gil off the marketboard, or won't feel as special with their rare items, is not worth pissing off the thousands of players who just want to use their houses without being punished.
Please remove "destroyed on pickup" from the game. It is an outdated feature that does far more harm than good.
