I think the point is that there is no middle ground. You have savage, or grinding outdated mind-numbing content. Like the OP suggested, I think adding in some extra options that didn't just cater to the lowest common denominator would be a great idea for the 200>210 stage of the Anima weapons. Sync'd coil and ARR ex primals? Great! Using Ravana or Bismarck tokens for an item just like Alex? Great! I don't know why people would be against this. It's not like adding another option to the grind that wasn't Beast Tribe or Alex would hinder your own progress or force you into content you found too difficult. It really wouldn't affect you at all, and it would breathe life back into some of the more interesting content.

EDIT: Also, what's with the comparisons to FFXI relic weapons. Two completely different kettles of fish. The massive grind (that most people didn't actually do until Dynamis was overhauled and it became infinitely easier) for a weapon that lasted years should not be compared to the grind in FFXIV where gear becomes outdated every 3 months or so. It's like comparing an elephant to an orange, pointless.
