In FFXI, when upgrading the relics after the updates, we found ourselves having to go to old areas to kill x-amount of mobs, some required certain days and certain weather. No one complained about it.Anima Relic:
Why do we have to do old content for this quest? This is a copy and paste of what we have already done.
I agree there should be some sort of grind if you aren’t raiding to get the most powerful weapon currently in the game and it shouldn’t be easy enough you get it in a week. With that said this first stage went overboard. You have us doing old content married with more of the same is super boring. I did those sylph quest and nothing on this earth will compel me to do them again. Of course there are other options, but I am going to flat our refuse to grind for this relic and this is coming from someone who did the zeta relic quest twice before the nerfs.

The biggest difference though was in ffxi it took 2 years to get enough currency to buy a stage 5 relic not two months. If ffxiv anima was as hard as ffxi's mythic, youd be beating alex savage 600 times, not alex normal. FFXI Mythic weapon required you to clear all the other endgame things multiple times like nyzul tower, einherjar, and salvage. Only the most dedicated/hardcore could get them.

Out of interest, what do you feel has fundamentally changed HW from ARR in the endgame that has made it worse for you? For me Alex is a let down compared to coil, though I feel half the issue for me is one of the balance of the harder difficulty. Im very much a Midcore type of player. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed with heavensward as far as max level content goes. 2.0 was some of the best times I've ever had in a game, but 3.0 is just...meh.
I loved the leveling story, and heavensward was worth the purchase just for that, but there's just so little interesting things to do at endgame. I'm doing savage, but only to hang out with my friends, I don't actually care if we win or not because it's just not interesting.
I'm not going to leave though, because if I left XIV, I'd probably go back to WoW as my main time killer...and Draenor is 10 times worse.
Apart from that and the length of 3.0, I don't find a huge amount different. Maybe less Trials available?

We're not limited to Heavensward, though. People on Malboro still do ARR content, such as Coil. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed with heavensward as far as max level content goes. 2.0 was some of the best times I've ever had in a game, but 3.0 is just...meh.

YESSSSS! I retired FFXI in November 2011 when I got word that the game will no longer be accessed on Xbox 360. I retired with Corsair main with Death Penalty. NIN also had Relic and Empyrean. Took me three years to get NIN relic when the Linkshell leader let me get a shot at it since I was the /main assist for them from start to finish.

Patch 2.1 brought us:
-New MSQ
-King Moggle Mog
-Three primal EX modes
-Hildibrand
-Crystal Tower raid
-Three new dungeons
-Ultima EX
-Two beastribe factions
-Wolves Den (PVP)
-Treasure Hunts
-FC housing
-Aesthetician
-Tons of small misc things like gearsets, dyes, class balancing etc.
We quantifiably got more content the first big patch of 2.1 than we got in 3.1. Not just more, but better in quality and we got it faster than 3.1. On top of this, they were adding and doing completely new things that they hadn't done before in that list. Shame on us for expecting more from SE now, or shame on SE for setting a standard they are no longer able to meet? Either way it is a concerning trend that is going in the exact opposite direction of their previous work ethic, and it should be concerning and the very least to everyone who loves this game.

I will miss petting you repeatedly, Teddy.

The biggest let down for me is all of the negativity from the community. As they say, misery loves company. All the negativity is affecting those of us that don't have much issue with it. If your feeling down, it gets us down. Chain reactions. I just want to play with my friends regardless of the content; but when my friends get bored I get bored. Cause weren't doing anything anymore. I'd rather be doing something then nothing, they would rather do nothing.
