Another Anima Thread (not a whine)

Okay, so i've just got to the grindy phase of anima. And i've got to admit, while i'm not happy, i'm not unhappy either.

I realised before it came out yeah it was gonna be a grind. But several factors of this:

It's measurable progress. Yeah, it's a LOT of it, but still measurable all the same.
I can gear up other classes while grinding.
No matter how much it's complained about, the grind is still going to be there. We'll get there eventually.

The fate grind part, not so keen on, but it can be done on any class, so i'll use that to level too.

All said, i really don't mind having a number to aim for. Long time to go, but still i can say i have x amount left.

Just some thoughts, queue rage posts lol.

I don't mind the numbers to a degree. And by that, I mean step 1's grind is fine, step 2's dungeon tour is AWESOME, and step 3's token system, while expectedly long, is still fine. But the crafted items? That's my only head shaker here. Remove those or lower the amount needed to 1 of each type and we'll be golden~

    You don't know any crafters?

My buddy made me all 16 items for about 10k each

Nope. I know one crafter who can do some of this stuff for me, but not all of it. Besides, I can never pay for it.

I don't craft. Firstly, I find it uber-boring. Secondly, and more importantly, I only ever get a short time to play in the evenings. Wasting that precious time on crafting is a waste of my subscription, especially considering I don't even enjoy it. That's fine, really, but the real problem is that this game is designed so that pretty much the only way you can make money is by crafting and exploiting prices on the MB. There really aren't any other lucrative alternatives except maybe selling Raid Clears, but even that is only available to people who have a regularly scheduled static party. So that's pretty much a no go as well.

This means that I don't have the money to pay for the kind of prices crafter's ask for. 10 k here and there isn't bad, and your crafting buddy is pretty generous to do it all for 160k... but on my server crafters are charging anywhere between 3 - 6 million. So, players without the crafting cash cow get locked out of this content, because we're just not hardcore enough to sit around and craft, I guess. It's not the end of the world or anything, but it kind of sucks.

I will say, I'm pretty accepting about most of the quest. The one aspect about that does actually irk me is the crafting part. Not because of how much the items are being sold for, but because they are all specialist recipes, meaning you can only possibly make 3 of them on your own, unless you have crafting mules. Even though I'd probably still not get my crafters to the point that I could make all the items on my own, I'd accept it a little better if that was at least doable. I'm lucky, my FC is the largest on our server, and I know I can get everything made in house. But I do know most people aren't lucky enough to have access to so many veteran crafters.

    Exactly right.

I don't mind the grind, honestly. The Atma farming-ish part is a little irksome for those of us who are very unlucky, but it's not that bad (especially compared to original Atma) and you can do it on any job. So no big deal. You get a sense of actual progress from the dungeon crawl, so that's great. Even the item farming is not terrible. It's a bit excessive, to be honest (given that the amount of time it would take will effectively make the weapon outdated soon after you get it. Assuming 3.2 is not far away), but even that is measurable progress, and I get to actually run content to do it. So, as far as I'm concerned, it's fine.

The Crafting, though, is a total nightmare. You can't do it alone, even if you do craft. The specialty system, I've been told, is not all that great to begin with and RnG only makes it worse. It costs HUGE sums of gill to bypass, which you also can't do if you're not into crafting in the first place... I was actually looking forward to the grind for this weapon, but knowing that I'll hit a brick wall once I get to the crafting part is kind of a turn off to even bother with it. Which also kind of sucks, because 3.15 didn't really give us anything else to do.

I think the whole crafting part is a social experiment. They know the economy and that everybody won't have all this money, I think they are trying to see if people will come together as a community and help each other out and not take advantage of others, at least thats what I hope will happen.

They'll see just how bad it truly is on this side of the pacific in the end, for you won't encounter as many helpful people as you might on the Japanese servers.
