I really enjoy the fantasy of being unstoppable.
Earlier on in life I was... well, I was a really bad person, and it sort of surprised me how easy it is to do that with impunity.
When I finally came around, I realized how much more vulnerable you are when you do the right thing. That realization was pretty crushing.
So I like the escapist fantasy of being indomitable but good, and employ it whenever possible when gaming.

Started as a tank, and while I have fun as a DPS, I'd rather be the one behind the wheel because I've had a lot of tanks who go at a snail's pace.

That, and I kinda like being able to control mobs. Let's not forget we all feel pretty invincible in some fights ^^

The reason why I tank is because it's the role I feel the most at home. Sure, I study and read every single job so I can help teach newer folk to the game, but tanking is something personal. To put it plainly, I tank because there's a thrill I get that nothing else can give me. Be it taking a crit to the face and asking for another, or standing amidst a sea of foes and not faltering. I tank because being a damn good tank is fun.
