I suspect as we move forward we'll see more experimental content. ARR was all about establishing the baseline for the game, the stable of content that we'll have the whole way through. Now they're starting to experiment a bit more with Diadem (which has a lot of kinks that need to be worked out, of course). With the stable in place, and presumably the staff+assembly line to keep those things coming, they'll probably try mixing up the formula from time to time. If nothing else, I really hope they do.

FFXI didn't start with a lot of the interesting content that that people remember fondly, and given this game's different sort of market, as well as the fact that they had to get their footing first, I'm not particularly surprised we haven't seen a lot of experimentation yet.

As for running the same content over and over, I deliberately don't structure my play times that way--if I approach burnout on something, I tend to focus on something else for awhile. I especially enjoy the weapon-quest stages that let us progress through a variety of content (like Nexus and the current Anima 210 stage) but tend to dislike the ones that are entirely one type of content (unless that content is dungeons, I love 4-mans in this game).

If they didn't give us new dungeons every few months (with the exception of the recent delay for 3.1), I'd probably get burnt out on dungeons, too, though, and I wish they'd rethink only adding two dungeons per patch--but, if it means they have resources to try new experimental/variety content over time, it'll be an even trade. It just doesn't feel that way yet since Diadem is kind of a mess.

The biggest problem is that no matter how many times you do a dungeon, a raid, or a Primal it will always be exactly the same fight every single time. The only pseudo RNG available is "Did I get targeted by this? If yes, do this. If no, do this." Nothing ever changes, it's all down to rote learning and while it feels great while you're learning the fight (allows for natural progression, very few true walls) it feels dreadfully boring and repetitive when you do it a second time (song and dance, same as Titan was in 2.0). The song and dance may include more steps but it's still a song and dance at the end of the day. If I had to do the same dungeon every day, but it wasn't exactly the same every day, I wouldn't feel as burnt out over such a short period of time. The only reason I can stomach Void Ark at all is because I only do it once a week.

Delaying something twice, for 7 months, just to release something that has you doing content that many were already doing (or in some cases, had exhausted already, thanks to SE imposing this same concept before) from 2 years ago to now isnt defendable for a product that you're paying for. It just smacks of lazy, cynical design to keep people tied over until 3.2. No attempt was even made to give it a semblance of a story, but amounts to you fulfilling a shopping list of objectives.

If players like the setup then good for them but don't think that because they personally like it, that it renders said content immune to criticism.

I know I'm a bit weird in this, but Titan EX is still my absolute favorite piece of content in this game. I ran it all the time in 2.1 for Primal Focus, and it was still never old for me. And it's one of the most scripted fights in the entire game.

I love Titan EX, it's my favorite fight in the game, but that's largely because every other fight is a version of Titan EX and Titan happens to be the most well put together one.

No, not fun to do 100x time the sames dungeons that have always the same paths, the same monsters and boss that you could do your eyes closed.
I like the the previous suggestions to make dungeons generated with random path and all.
I think that would make it more interesting, but well it would require core change to the game... so it would take time to implement.

I don't mind that it take time to get the relic, I guess that should be expected, but well first if it was said that it was aimed for casual, then at least take into account their play time...
If you want to lock the relic from being obtained too fast, well it's not like you don't have already lock systems everywhere else... just put a lock there too that you can only get X items per week BUT let peoples obtaining the items from any existing content, so peoples can enjoy what they like.
And maybe throw some bonus for content where you want peoples to go to populate dead content.

We expect a grind, but not the exact same grind we JUST did for our previous relics. We all did our grind in Alex for our 190 gear, the 60 dungeons for Law/Eso, the 50 dungeons for Poetic gear, and the Brayflox for the best lvl 30 gear. Grinds aren't a surprise, we know they exist in the MMO universe.

Yay another person who jumps to conclusions, i know why people are "upset" it was already proven in the 10 other complaint topics that poped up, but the anwser remains the same.

That's a fair point really. Titan IS the best put-together. The difficulty curve on it was basically perfect for the rewards at the time, and it was so incredibly satisfying to clear it the first time...and every time after, actually. Honestly, most of the other primals leave me feeling a bit empty--they're often either a bit too easy (Shiva EX) or don't offer worthwhile rewards for their complexity (Ramuh EX and Mog EX being the worst offenders IMO, though Bismarck is probably actually the worst since it wasn't even marginally relevant, ever). I've not tried Thordan EX yet, but T9 is my least favorite fight in game and that's what it's most often compared to...so I'll probably not be rushing to do it.

For the grind would be 100x better if trash could kill you if you're not payin attention, and if bosses weren't scripted but were more randomized or reacted to things players do "occasionally"

Repeating fights would be fun because you don't know what could happen.

Some people might complain though especially world first groups because one group could get worlds first simply because the mechanic RNG was in their favor.

In other words, you dont know why people are upset then. It goes beyond the relic; this just happened to be the breaking point for people.
