So that's a 18 k shield then?

On that same WAR, if they are geared for raiding with melded or str gear, would only give a shield for about 2-3 k. I know that SCH is the protection healer, but I dont think doubling the capacity on stoneskin would change that much in the grand scheme of things anyway would it?

Again, I play healer for funsies in four mans, I only raid on Monk and War.

He's most definitely talking about the shield already being doubled. I'm at i203 and I only get 4.3k crits on WARs, there's no way in hell you're going to be hitting a 9k crit adlo.

I'm i209 SCH and I've hit 5.5k crit on a war. So, 11k shield.

You can't compare efficiency of a pure shielding spell to a pure healing spell. And Stoneskin is not a waste of MP, its just extremely situational just like other skills most healer has are situational. As a spell of few uses it looks useless since most times it would be bad, but at that perfect moment, its either amazing or the best thing you have.

I actually don't think most of WHM's abilities are situational at all. In fact, SS is now probably the most situational ability in their entire toolkit - moreso than Cure III. Its usefulness has been that severely diminished. Divine Seal? PoM? I use them constantly. Stoneskin? Two opportunities, really

Even if only from a lore perspective I agree with the post saying it has damaged part of the WHM's identity, which is in Conjuration, power over Earth, Wind, and Water spells.

AST has instant shields that do more than Stoneskin does, and they can cast Stoneskin. I'm not sure why they would be complaining with 10%? They also have the 10% damage reduction from Collective Unconscious. Boom, there's the extra 10% they have for "balance" if they really need it for a tank buster.

AST also has Disable, which stacks with Virus.

Meanwhile, WHM's mitigation has been completely nerfed to the ground but their curing hasn't been buffed enough to justify their status as as "power healers," especially when a SCH going full on healing will still be curing for more due to their fairy.
