Regarding healers acting as DPS

The tank shouldn't care as long as he doesn't die. This is below the time they even get their super cool downs like hollow ground. Sometimes a tank might pop those if they think you can't heal in time and letting them get really low could make that happen. But in all honesty the tank should just trust you and pop normal cool downs and keep going. He should only question his trust if he does once. Nothing in this game overs after 1 wipe. That retry option alone shouldn't have them shaking in their boots that they could die.

I dont think what you (OP) did was wrong, but next time it would a good idea to tell your group that you are doing dps and that low HP, does not mean they will die. If there is no communcation, they (the group) might not know if OP is trolling, bad, afk or a bot. We do not know the history of the tank, for all we know he or she might have been in a group with a dps healer that let him or her die alot.

Whenever I dps as a healer, I let others know (I do have as a rule for myself that HP stays at 70% or higher) this. Just like when I am going to pull (as a tank) a alot of mobs, I let the group know, so they know what is going to happen.

So my advice is, you are a group, talk with each other.

As a happy medium, when I play my WHM, I'll keep the tank relatively topped off for the first pull, less topped off for the next pull, and after that, I won't heal at all during the next encounter if all the mobs will die before he reaches 20% health. then just a quick cure 1 while he runs off to pull more. Haven't been kicked yet at least! Tho i'm sure the group that I got in satasha hard for my first lv 50 dungeon as healer wanted to kick me during the stupid scorpion boss with his tail swipe :x

Pretty much this. Yes, you can heal them and all, but it's not a healer's responsibility to fix mistakes. I'm not saying everyone has to play perfect but being lazy with dodging is an easy way to become best friends with the floor.

Honestly, I don't believe you should have been kicked, if no one died then all is good. Also as AST w can lt tanks get low and just throw out an Essential Diginity(I think we still have it with the lvl sync can't remember copperbell lvl sync). I've never been kicked for from a dungeon for DPSing and I don't think healers should be kicked for helping DPS. Now if they let people die then yeah, would be a reason to kick or that they just need to pay attention and not tunnel. The only thing I would have done different is just throw a cure on the tank before he pulls the next mob so ensure he's at full health on the next pull rather than just relying on the passive OoC regen.
