I have never really farmed mgp. I have collected all cards from npc and have done some tournaments and mini cacpot almost everyday if I remember do it.

Try the new hot&cold mini-games, if you liked the 1.0 gathering
I only find it sad that they have only the ones from botanist and miner as mini-game, but not from fisher.

This is a good site to use to learn how to play mini cactpot if you don't know how. It'll prompt you what to do next. http://super-aardvark.github.io/yuryu/

I've been trying to figure out the rhythm the Jumbo Jackpot uses. There is a pattern but I've haven't been able to crack it yet.

I completed the grind for Fenrir well before 3.0. There were a lot of people who did it earlier than I did. It's possible, but takes a lot of dedication. Either you really, really want it... or you get lucky. I'm okay with that. I don't get to use Fenrir very often except for in old world content, so I'm glad the devs confirmed they're looking into ways to make him fly.

Probably 90% of my MGP comes from an activity that took the devs less than an afternoon to program. People can talk about "long term goals" all they want, but the gold saucer is lousy when it comes to rewards. A majority of MGP gains should come from the content that consumes a majority of the development time.
If you train your chocobo while racing, you will spend MGP faster than you earn it from that activity. It takes hours of triple triad to earn the same MGP that I get daily from mini-cactpot, and I'm expected to spend that on random packs of cards while hoping for a rare one? And don't get me started on the 1 million MGP Cloud card which is fundamentally no different than any easier to obtain 5 star card.
The gold saucer games that take the most time to develop eat up more MGP than they award, so you can't expect to enjoy those activities while saving for the big ticket general items. In the gold saucer, time does not equal fun, which kind of defeats the point in my eyes.

I just play the same numbers every single week and hope for the best. They honestly need more fun or interesting games to play. I love cliff hanger and the other one that is similar, I want more physical games, make me run jump and dodge, have moving platforms. Plus doesn't help that every game you can play (machine wise) is all timing. Every single time I go to the Saucer it always seems to be the same 2 games, Skinchange and Vase off. As for the scratch I honestly aim for the 1-2-3 regardless of how low the odds are (unless its obviously not there) majority of the time it pays off for me.

Mini cactopot and triple triad. Don't forget the gates, the weekly, and sometimes the professional racers..
Majority of the time the Jumbo Cactpot will use the same digits in a staggered fashion. Typically an abac or abcb format. This isn't an always but sure as hell seems to be the normality.
Anyway, the biggest contender is still GATEs. 'Any Way the Wind Blows' is an easy 3k and most normal GATEs give 300+ now. Funny enough I'm actually really close to have accumulated 1mil in MGP but it's been spent in time on various bits and bobbles. Just take a day to fill your chellenge log and do GATEs and you can earn a lot. It can be fun if done with friends. Challenge each other to scores, y'all can sac each other wins in TT or play legit. Gold Saucer can be fun, the template is there, just make use of it.

The gates that you get depend on the time that you're there. The dancing one and the one with Typhon always take place at 15 after the hour if I remember correctly, while Cliffhanger, Skinchange, Vase Off, etc are at 15 till the hour.I just play the same numbers every single week and hope for the best.
