    Windowed Mode

I just started playing and noticed that SE was kind enough to carry over the crash upon alt+tab "feature" from XI (that this is a problem with a 2010 game makes me laugh.) Windowed mode works fine except it's not windowed full-screen; it's an eyesore and cuts off the bottom part of my UI. This seems like a really simple fix for SE. This wouldn't be so bad if using a script to get rid of the border didn't incur the possibility of being banned.

For a game where I have to constantly have a browser open to look things up, this seems like a pretty obvious oversight. With the "full financial backing" from SE, this seems like a very quick and easy fix. If a community member can manage to write a four line script to solve the problem, then I'm sure SE can do it as well.

Problem is, SE doesn't consider that a priority as of yet. There are several ways to fix your issue however, either using a program such as ShiftWindow (no care, doesn't interact with FFXIV and therefore is not against ToS), or disable Windows Snapping.

I wonder if it is resolution dependent. I have always run windowed and get the full UI. I may have had to move the chat boxes around, but the button bar and menus are fine. Do you have a screenshot? Maybe I or someone can help figure out what is wrong.

I play at 1920x1080 with dual monitors. The XP bars at the bottom of the screen get chopped off. It's obviously not gamebreaking in any sense, but it is quite annoying and is something that SE could probably fix quite quickly. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky. I realize they have an overwhelming amount of stuff on their plate, but come on, alt+tab crashing and no windowed full screen is just a tad outdated.

For the part hidden at the bottom, is that the task bar? If you right click on the Task Bar, go to Properties, to have it Auto-Hide is it still blocking the interface?

I play xiv on my main monitor @1920x1200. I moved the window so only the game portion is visible, putting hte boarders off screen. It looks full screen but is windowed. Just right click the task bar icon, click "move", and use your arrow keys to get a full screen look.

Also, alt tab out of full screen, TONS of game don't support it, I crash when I do it in steam games, or damn near anything else. This is not exlcusive to ffxiv, and is likely more of a directx issue.

It really is a feature though! Logging out takes for EFFING ever. You have to wait a good 30 seconds to get back to the character selection screen, then pick "Exit". Next, wait about 10 seconds for the title screen, then select quit. Most of the time, I just get to that 30 second loading screen and mash Alt+Tab or my Windows button and crash the game out just to get back to my desktop faster. :-P

Honestly though, I play full screen and keep my laptop nearby for looking up stuff. I'm beginning to think this game is giving me Stockholm Syndrome.

As far as fixing it, I'll leave you with the non-technical TL;DR version:

It's actually a more complicated fix than you think and seems to be occurring within the low-level engine SE has been leveraging for several of it's games, not the game itself. The engine also comes from a different group that may or may not be directly associated with the FFXIV people.
