What do you think of Ala Mhigo?

Mostly I just don't want the story to be as simple as going to every region and making it 'better'. It's why I'm hoping that Ishgard won't be perfect after we ultimately take our leave of the place - because a society is infinitely more interesting when there's internal conflict, strife and scheming. I don't want the Warrior of Light to be a plot device that completely erodes any and all morally grey elements. A large part of Ishgard's charm is their overzealous nature - and whilst they may no longer be at war with Dragons outside of Nidhogg's brood I don't want them to just suddenly start working well with the rest of Eorzea.

Lets be honest, where has the warrior of light gone where everything is perfect when we leave? Even the main three city states are a constant struggle. Ul'dah is just the best example.

One of the things I was wondering about is if we head to Ala Mhigo, what's the new race going to be? And then I wondered if Hilda was our sneak-preview for the new race, and we're not actually getting a new race, we're getting half-breeds.

And then I remembered how all the half-breeds in Ala Mhigo generally came about and now I am depressed.

Hilda isn't really a special model. Its just a Hyur with pointy ears.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't add another race. They don't have to add races every expansion.

Yeah, that's why I was thinking they might want to go with mixed-races as the next "race", they'd have to do near-zero work for them.

Given their long-term occupation by Garlemald now I would expect the city to be heavily modified with magitech and such. The Ala Mhigo we hear of is the city the refugees fled from. The Ala Mhigo we visit will be a very different place.

I'm actually excited to see it solely for the fact that it will likely mark our first direct assault on Garlean territory.
