I wouldn't mind this BUT!... They said in an interview.... they don't want something that is a must have to people would kick people for not having.
Stats are enough.

Perhaps not change how abilities work but, change how they look? Black Mage could have different colored Fire, instead of red its blue. etc etc
not gonna happen SE doesnt want relics to feel "mandatory"
love the idea of being able to choose the glow tho![]()
Just so you know, you can use Allied Seals to buy aetheryte tickets and teleport for free. I haven't paid for a teleport since June.I'd love to customize a relic weapon with a new teleport materia. Say you pentameld it with a teleport +5 +5 +4 +3 +2 and you gain a reduction of 10 gils for every point !
Instead of teleporting for a fee of 400 gils, you could be able to teleport for no more than 290 gils with a fully pentamelded weapon ! And imagine with melding all the gears ! it could be free !
I also fully agree with OP, but would rather see interesting stats across the board. The A4S weapon could have its own mechanic vs the Eso weap vs the Anima weap etc.
I also agree with the posts talking about this game severely needing trait/specializations that fundamentally change the way we play, so that we can experiment and find something that works for us and differentiates ourselves from others.

Funny thing is, this is still very possible with Esoterics Gear.
That being said, I would really like to see more specialized stats in the game. Diadem doesn't count. It takes forever to get something that you actually want/need for your main to drop, and it's not a guarantee that you'll be the one getting it anyway. It's a game, and like any game, there will be discrimination against people who don't play as well or don't have the best stats. It's unavoidable. I've been on the receiving end of it (ironically, for not having a relic weapon when I rejoined the game back in the days of Brayflox HM speedruns), and it irked me, but I got over it and kept running content and grinding. Hurt feelings shouldn't be the reason we can't have gear.
WinterMaintenance is coming
It would be neat if for say, bard, one bow had increased dots potency, the other had increased dots timer length and another had increased chance for crit on dots. So basically it would be a wash DPS wise for the dots but you could pick based on your preferences i.e. if you find it hard to keep dots refreshed, or you love rob procs, etc. For casters or something you could increase radius of aoe effects, etc. along the same lines. For casters a perk which was always kind of nice was having a chance for an instant cast proc.Just so you know, you can use Allied Seals to buy aetheryte tickets and teleport for free. I frequently see the argument that any special stats would immediately become mandatory, and people would be discriminated for not having them. Yet, there are plenty of opportunities for this to happen already in the game, and it doesn't. Do you ever see a farm party in PF that requires A4S weapons, or even Thordan EX weapons? Drops from those two events give a substantial stat increase, and excluding people without them would speed up your runs. But it doesn't happen. Why would adding new and interesting stats (to either all gear or only rare / hard to get gear) suddenly cause this to start happening?

Exactly. And while there is an optimal build for every class, not everyone uses it nor do they need to to clear content. And I haven't run into a situation where it's "Have this gear or GTFO" Especially with good luck in Diadem with decent 210 gear. You can't farm or optimize around RNG. You may wind up with something better than Eso or Gordian.I see the argument that any special stats would immediately become mandatory, and people would be discriminated for not having them. I think special stats have a place so long as they don't tip the scale of the game's meta.
Frankly, I'm just tired of min-maxing and judging gear based on how much Crit and Det they have. It's boring!
What people are saying is you can't have relics be TOO glamourous and effective otherwise you'd make them stronger than raid weapons and if it goes down that route, then the devs would put in heavy amounts of RNG and time sinks to make sure people can't get it too quickly. Remember the lovely Atma grind? I don't want to go back there. If a relic can give things like potency boosts or an extra shield at certain moments, you'd then have people demanding to have those weapons present at the raid simply because said bonuses can make the raid easier. No one does the same thing with weapons/gear right now because you can get away with being a step below the optimal level without screwing everyone one.
