    "Furniture Reclaim" on expired housing

This is the ideal compromise to stop complaints about the new house expiration system. Furniture can be expensive, and the inability to take it back as an inventory item is a bit strange.

The first ideal would be to just allow furniture to be taken back as items, and simply have an NPC in the residential areas take these items and let players reclaim them at any time after letting a house expire.

If that's not possible for whatever reason, then at least keep a list of deployed furnishings when a house is removed. If they player ever buys a new house, they can re-deploy from this list into their new house, and redecorate with all of their old stuff.

Having housing cycle is fine. I don't think anyone's worried about that part of it. It's just the destruction of furniture that people are worried about, and that should be easily able to be fixed.

the funiture does indeed go to the residentioal care taker and you do indeed pick them up in item form. the only items you do not get back is the ones that get destroyed on removal.

That's what I'm saying. Most rare ones are destroyed on removal. If they were to add a tab in furnishing options that would store those items so players could directly re-deploy them when they get a new house in the future, it would save a lot of grief. I'm not sure why "destroyed on removal" is even a thing myself, but if it really is absolutely necessary, the reclaim tab would be the ideal solution.

it still would not change how the removal is. they want them to be rare. the destroyed on removal is to keep the items rare. knowing you had to work for it again.

it is like the melding that happened in 1.0. your stuff was destroyed on failure. they just took it and placed it on furniture.

Right, but that system was added before they put in the "houses expire" system. Now it comes back to bite, and they need to go back over it and make sure it doesn't cause new problems.

It's to artificially make those furnishings seem more rare and unique. The idea is that if you get the rare drop needed to make them, you're going to be really excited because you got something that not a lot of people have access to.

Personally, I don't think this is necessary. Especially since the furnishing becomes bound as soon as you place it anyway. If you made or bought a furnishing, you should be able to keep it, even if you want to put it on your retainer for a while.

I can understand it a little more for the food furnishings, since it would (I assume) take a lot of resources to keep track of how many uses each item had. But on the flip side of that, I wish you could make a non-usable version of food items, to prevent FC members from destroying your furnishings by eating them, and to allow you to pick them up without destroying them.

Furniture being destroyed on removal is an incredibly stupid system because, if nothing else, it's completely unrealistic. I can understand not being able to reclaim, say, wallpaper or flooring because that seems like it would be difficult to accomplish in real life without doing serious damage to your home or the design.

But things like beds? C'mon, Yoshi-P. Be reasonable. Give people their items back when they pick them up, whether it's for the housing reclamation or just everyday rearranging.
