We need an expansion centered around Hildibrand

I love the hildy quests, but no thanks.

I hope he is always part of every expansion, but I don't think I could deal with hildibrand being part of the entire story. The fact that he is removed from the MSQ allows hildy to be much more comedic in nature.

No, we don't. We really, really don't. Hilibrand works well as a self contained set of quests that have no major impact upon the rest of the game. The tone and mood isn't like anything else in the game - nor is it to everybody's tastes given how over the top it is.

It would also risk becoming very stale given how repetitive his antics tend to be. I'm hoping that we get to see him every 2 - 3 patches instead of seeing major resources devoted to dragging out his story even further.

No. The entire point of Hildibrand is to contrast with the dire and rather dark main scenario. The only thing I see happening is if Godbert gets a role in a future expansion since he is a member of the Ul'dah syndicate, but that's about it.

I love the quests, but a whole expansion would be a bit much, I love the episodic nature of the stories and too much at once would probably wear thin. Keep em short and sweet, wouldn't do to have the mystery be solved so quickly!

Oh and make sure to add a trial fight near the end of each episode and lock off the trial roulette until it's done, I heard Hildy detractors love that.

I'd pay for a Hildebrand expansion. Don't get me wrong, I love the more in depth story we've been getting with the end of 2.x and HW, (particularly given how slow ARR's story was for the first half of the 2.x cycle), but there's nothing wrong with a bit of a breather chapter in the game as a whole, and Hildebrand is better written than most of what passes for "comedy" in the real world these days.....

No. The entire point of Hildibrand is to contrast with the dire and rather dark main scenario. The only thing I see happening is if Godbert gets a role in a future expansion since he is a member of the Ul'dah syndicate, but that's about it.

The whole reason he was even added to the game in 1.0 was to help lighten the game up when the whole setting of the game was becoming increasingly dark with the Seventh Umbral Era story, and thus his bumbling antics were some much needed comic relief. Now however, his quests are a nice sidestory, but his whole narrative now seems to exist in a kind of bubble separate from the actual game's story, where aspects of the lore are.. ignored for comic value or handwaved away.

There was also a saddening tendency to drag his antics down from bumbling slapstick into utter farce (Godbert prancing around in nothing but short shorts just made me cringe every single time, even when he was swinging monsters around without a care), which makes the player's participation in it seem even more awkward. And as final insult it seems that the whole Hildibrand questline now is a convenient way to add fanservice trial battles in without affecting the wider world (Gilgamesh and Ultros/Typhon).

Don't get me wrong, I loved his series of quests, I just preferred how he was originally portrayed in 1.0 to some of his more ridiculous and farcical appearances in ARR. He can be made funny, but he worked better when he had dignity and his good heart and determination weren't just pushed aside to show him being chased around Road-Runner style.

Sure, if the point of the expansion was to kill off Hilde so that he and things like him never appeared again. Otherwise, no thanks.
