Would you want the hardest raids to drop vanity gear instead of useable gear?

they not have to be precisely angel wings.... besides, why you guys say it dont fit the atmosphere of the game? havent you yet seen Ascians in game yet? i completelly could see angels in the game, this is a fantasy game after all, look its name "FINAL FANTASY"..... why not angels? a very good design maybe could change your mind.... and i think final fantasy games has always have creatures with some kind of angel design on their games.

I agree with ShinTofu post above this.... i would hate be figthing alongside a guy on stupid costume, but vanity gear designed for fighting could be well designed for it too, why not?

let me set up a scenario.

Hey guys we just cleared that new dungeon. We had a bit of problems with the last boss, at 50% he summoned a pair of behemoths, at 25% he called up two more behemoths and some kind of weird worm thing.

3 chests poped. We got a cheese head, angle wings, and a pair of sqeaky duck slippers.. along the way we found a couple chests that contaned a rusty bucket that can be equipped like a helmet and a pair of mc hammers parachute pants. Yea don't bother with this crap.

Leave the goofy vanity equipment to be gained during event's or for other light optional content.

In regards to the OP i personally like Yoshi-P's idea of having actual battle content gear drop from battle content and have crafters make vanity gear. So with my understanding of the materia system also, you can get crafters to maker you gear which is kinda like a knock off version of good gear you receive from raids, and they can also just make more or less vanity gear.

I can't imagine SE would implement ridiculous looking gear like that although I would probably get a good laugh off it.

It all depends on the art direction that is taken when developing the gear. At first thought, angel wings sounds pretty ridiculous, however it looked pretty awesome when Sephiroth had them in Advent Children.

I would consider "vanity gear" to be more Final Fantasy like than silly. I'm pretty sure the previous Final Fantasy characters wouldn't be so memorable if they were dressed the way our characters are dressed now.
