Finaland : Will the new GC ranks be available in a near future?

Yoshida : Just adding new rank is really easy, but the reason why we don’t do it is … There is a reason behind it. When the rank is unlocked, what you gonna do is just earn the point to get to this level right? That’s not really interesting… We are looking into building a team, in GC, like building your own army.

So when we will implement this kind of new content then we want to also simultaneously unlock the rank, and the more rank, the more soldier you can recruit or the more variation of soldier you can recruit.

So it is important to have some link between this content and also unlocking new ranks otherwise it won’t be interesting! So when we’ll have this new content then we will unlock the GC ranks.

Yeah, the ranks themselves have been in the game for a while now. But, judging from the style of the badges, these will be command ranks. As you play through 3.0 you get to run with NPCs through a number of dungeon environments, with each progressive instance having smarter AI (that first one, though... flipping idiots). I think they're still working on the NPC AI so that they will be on par with players when they finally decide to implement the next Company ranks so that we aren't having to carry the NPCs like we've had to so far.

I remember the time when they talked about namedays and chosen guardians during char creation having some minor any role, other than just.... well, being there on your character screen. Still waiting....

As for GC ranks, I'd love seeing more but they'd have to make the next tiers absurdly high since dungeon gear turns in for about 900 seals per drop. That and put the Grand Companies back into focus since they're close to irrelevant by the end of 3.0 and 3.1

Ventures, Cordial, Icarus, Spiritbond Potions, and augmented AF/airship mats.. For me there's no such thing as too many seals.. I hope GCs themselves though become more actively involved than just being ethos for Frontline PVP and their short tertiary place in the early MSQ. The duty solo-enabling npc companions would be cool..

Though I'd also like to see a new companion option instead of just our choco companion. Echo/Scion companion like 1.0 would be neat. Although it's nothing new more something else to grind up to r20
