Judging from datamined thumbnails of the items, it's rather unlikely that the Esoterics weapons will be related to the Anima weapons at all, since they seem to have different styles.

Unless they do something completely out of the ordinary (which SE never does, everything is predictable) it will not require the Eso weapon. It definitely won't require the A4S weapon.

I doubt the anima weapons will require the eso weapon as a base since Relic is usually not tied to weekly currency. They already tried that in 2.0/2.1 and then dropped it to the non-capped currency when Soldiery was implemented.
If I die, forgive me. I used to be a Dragoon.

Patch 3.15 will save ff14!

I don't think anyone can stop me anymore, except for god"...

I for one prefer to have a weapon with stats of my choosing, not one that has not so great of stats. That is were Relic comes in.
It is not even about it being a weapon for those that do not raid, as raiders also have done Relic
My Lilith Zeta for instance was much better then the weapon from coil in 2.X. (costly mind you, lol)
Also it was stated about those with Zeta they may skip the first step, this of course is not stating for sure that you need the past Relic.
Some have also talked about the eso weapon being the base for next Relic, this however i do not agree with.

I think you start with a rusty weapon found in the wilderness (I'm sure Rowena have some books about legendary weapons in her collection to sell for 2k law tomes or know where to find those books) or with a Zeta weapon (skipping the "find and polish the rusty weapon" part)
